Hello all...somewhat new to the cruise boards :) I heard somewhere that when you make cruise reservations you have the option of requesting a certain room number. Is this true? Thought this was interesting....if so, did anyone? What was the outcome?

We always have selected out stateroom when we book. Although at the moment we are waitlisted for "our" room but have the one next door. I do understand that there is another way which just guarantees a room in a particular category. I don't know exactly what the difference is - if it is price or what.

Check with your TA or DCL if you book directly with them which is what we've always done.

We have always gotten our requested rooms as well. It's really as easy as asking your TA to book that particular room for you, and if it is available, there is no reason why they can't!!

Well, actually....I would be booking through Disney Vacation Club. Does this matter?

No, I booked through MS with DVC points and I had my choice of rooms. I told them what catagory and they connected to DCL to find out which rooms were avaiable and then I chose one. If you have a certain cabin in mind just ask them to check on its availability. Unfornunately, you may not have as many choices since DVC members can only reserve the cruise 11 months out. But we got a nice one. (I Hope!):D

That sounds great!! Thanks...I am sure glad this DCL board is here, I would never have known! How far in advance can people paying cash book?

As soon as the date opens up - usually about 18 months out I think but I'm not sure.

I wouldn't even dream of booking a cruise without being able to select my stateroom in advance.

I don't mind the element of surprise....we were on a GTY basis for two cruises and wound up with great cabins!!!

Last summer when I booked through DVC they suggested a room--I looked on my map in my cruise brochure and noticed that was right under the goofy pool--not a good thing according to the boards (noise from deck parties), so I asked for another choice--we ended up with 8528, which is under part of the adult pool, so I'm guessing it will be quieter.

Our last cruise had us on deck 7 with no complaints about noise. Next time we'll be in room 8676 . Will we be hearing more noise with the Mickey Pool above us?
My husband is making fun of me right now because I'm asking so many ???
