If we land at 11am, drop our bags at Port Orl. Do you think we can make Lunch @ T-rex @2?

would it be crazy to lug our carry on & head straight to the restaurant & check in later? don't they bring our checked in luggage straight to the resort anyway?

Are you using Magical express? or Renting a car? or Car service? or Taxi?

Land at 11:00 - which mean the wheels hitting the tarmac, taxiing to gate, disembarking the aircraft, bathroom break on the way to the luggage carrousel, luggage pickup, heading out, drive time depending on how your getting to the resort, if you are riding magical express there is a chance that you will have other resort stops, or some wait time while the bus fills up. Renting a car time to rent and find your car, get in and drive to the resort, if you go this route have your mapping ready to save time. Car or Taxi service will take you to the resort check in - Checking in, finding your room, throwing the luggage in, bathroom break, heading to the bus stop, waiting on your bus...

Also other things to consider, if you are renting a car or using a car service of some sort are you planning on a quick stop for snacks, water.. etc..
Are you ordering from garden grocer?

Over all I think that you can make it, its totally do'able. Even if your running 15 minutes late or so you should be fine. Over Christmas DH and I were late to Chef's de France ADR for dinner, due to issues with the boat from HS, and they still seated us with no problem.

Magical Express. yeah, we'll be cutting it close.

Should we consider Car Service? And we were planning on getting food for the room at some point, just not sure which point. I need to look into Garden Grocer a bit.

They don't allow strollers in the restaurants they are left outside so a carry on would not be allowed in the restaurant, safety reason. If you were just using a back pack (standard) you would be okay, but not a wheeled roller. We were going into Rainforest at Disney Springs, and this family in front of us all had wheeled rollers, the cast member/hostess told them they could not bring them in the restaurant, they completely ignored her, they went to standing in the seating line, when the greeter/ host told them they could not bring them in and was explaining why the man got really ugly, the manager came out and stood firm. The only time I have seen them let something even close like this in, was with a special needs child, who was in a W/C, he had a portable breathing machine, and oxygen, I knew what it was because I worked in health care.

I am pretty sure you will need to check in first, so that it shows up in the system that you are there and they just don't have some random luggage. Also are you going to on-line check in and do you have your magic bands already? This might be a way around knocking off some time checking in.

For me I would go car service to the resort with a planned stop, be clear when reserving the car where you want to stop( publix, walmart), have your list ready, divide and conquer. Also if you want more than beer or wine for the room you will need to take this into consideration, Then use magical express for the ride back to the airport.

I would seriously just call the restaurant directly, 407-828-8739 and book for 230pm, then cancel the reservation out of the Disney Reservation system. They won't charge you for a no show like Disney will.

This is what I would do.

Did you make a reservation through WDW? If so, cancel it. It's a Landry's restaurant and you can make a reservation directly through the restaurant without a credit card hold. However, if you are a Landry's Select Club member you don't even need a reservation! For $25, you can become a member of Landry's Select Club. That $25 becomes a credit on the membership, so you will get $25 off your meal. Simply show your membership card when you arrive at the restaurant and you will get priority seating AHEAD of people with ADR's or reservations. In addition, if your vacation month is your "birthday month" (and you can just make it your birthday month when you sign up), you get an additional $25 off your bill.

SO, all you need to do is land, take ME to your resort, check-in and head out to Disney Springs. When you get to TRex, show your Landry's card and you will be seated - no reservation, no credit card hold and no rushing around trying to get to TRex on time.

I have to ask how important is this ADR? For my family, this would be a nightmare train, with me at the wheel.

Yes you can make this ADR, if everything goes right. But do you really want that kind of stress at the beginning of your vacation? You can get rid of the ADR and make a reservation at TREX, which gets rid of the no show fee, but you still have that commitment hanging over your head. For me, it would never go away, so any delay would have me upset.

I would make that ADR for dinner, or at least later in the afternoon so that if you experience any delays, you are not rushing to make up time.

T-Rex wouldn't be worth this kind of stress for me. Are you taking the boat from POR to Disney Springs? If so, it's a 20 minute boat ride, once you are on the boat. You may have to wait a while to get one. We waited 15 minutes last time, so about a 30 minute trip from waiting to arrival at the dock. Cancel the ADR and book with T-Rex directly or get the Landry's Card.

Will T-Rex actually be busy enough to require a reservation?

My past (albeit limited) experience with this restaurant is that it is usually a walk-up. Especially mid afternoon.

But I could be wrong. :-)

awesome advice. thank you all so much! going to heed your words & cancel through disney & call them up direct or do that club thing mentioned above (thx!)

Like everyone else said, if you land at 11, get off the plane, you would still have to ride the train to get to ME. Based on how many stops they had it can take up to an hour before they'd get to your resort. It's best to assume it's about 2 hours from landing to when you'll be at your hotel. Especially since you're landing mid day. I think red eyes have a better chance to have less stops since not many want to take red eyes except from West coast.
