We will be at AKL on DDxp for the 1st night & I am trying to choose between several signature restaurants. Would I take a bus from AKL to the Transportation Center & go from there?

The restaurants I am trying to choose from are Citricos, California Grill, Flying Fish & Yachtsman, but I am thinking it would be easier if we choose from Citros or California Grill b/c they are on the Monorail system.

What are your thoughts?

Thanks!:lovestruc

I don't believe there is a bus from AKL to TTC - only from AK (park) to TTC.

You could take the bus from AKL to MK, then walk over to the Contemporary or take the monorail. Then of course, if you monorail from MK, you can easily get to the Grand Floridian.

I think the Epcot resorts are a little more of a pain, but also doable. Take the bus from AKL to DHS. Then either walk to the Boardwalk area (about 15-20 minutes at most to walk) or from the DHS bus stop walk over to the DHS boat dock and take the boat to the Boardwalk or the Beach/Yacht Club docks. Or to the Swan/Dolphin dock and then walk over to the Boardwalk.

Additional thought: Have you considered just dining at Jiko, since you're at AKL?

I didn't think the AKL bus went to the TTC. Just take a bus to the closest theme park and then go from there.

Citricos or California Grill - take a bus to the MK, then walk to Contemporary or take the monorail to the CR or GF. Or take a boat to the GF.

Flying Fish or Yachtsman, take a bus to DHS, then boat over to the YC or BW.

Or take a bus to DTD and then hop a bus from there to the resort you need to go to .

Or take a cab. Or drive your own vehicle.

Thanks for the info - need to mull this over & figure out what to do.

It would be SO much easier to eat at AKL, but the menu (sadly) doesn't do it for us. It will be our 1st day at WDW & we are not doing parks - only swiming & animal watching, so I guess taking several buses, or walking would be nice to do.

How long do you think it would take to get to the Boardwalk or Monorail?

Hummm,,,,,,, the possibilities are endless ,aren't they? I would vote for Calfornia Grill it's my favorite restaurant there.-bus to MK and just walk .
Don't forget you get a beautiful view of the fireworks over Cinderella's Castle from there. It's magical.:wizard:

To cheap for a cab! :rotfl2:

No car rental this trip.

But a bus to DTD sounds good. Is there a way to guestimate how long it would take to get from 1 place to another?

When you are going from one transportation system to another, plan at least an hour or even longer.

OOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHH hadn't thought of that! What time should I make the reservation for if we would like to see that?

I think bus to DTD and then resort may take longer than the other options (to a park then other transportation).

It would probably be easier to go to a restaurant on the monorail loop. If you go to Cali Grille, you can just walk over to the bus stops at MK after dinner to return to AKL. Or, you could take the monorail from either place to MK to get the bus. I don't believe that a bus will go from AKL to TTC directly, so you may have to go to the MK stop. but I may be wrong.

If you go to the Epcot resorts for dinner, it is recommended that you go to DTD to transfer to a another bus to BW or YC. However, if you're at AKL, it would probably be easier to take the bus to AK, then transfer to the BW or YC bus (as long as AK is still open).

It can be done, just allow some extra time to get to wherever you are going. If you're there early, take time to stroll around the resorts. And, have a great meal!

We generally make ours about 30 minutes before the fireworks, it gives us a chance to get a margaretta and head out to the deck.-Enjoy

:) At Cali Grill they will give you time to enjoy them during your meal. We stay at AKV-K and eat there every trip. Take the MK bus then monorail or just walk over. You could also get to AK and wait on the CR bus---if you are dressed nice your wife may not want to walk in heels or something. It kinda would depend on which park bus pulls up first out of those two. DO NOT WASTE TIME AT DTD.

We just returned from a stay at AKL. We ate at Narcoosees, Grand Floridian, and Le Cellier, Epcot. We found it very easy to get places from AKL. You can take a bus to any park and then get a bus from there to any resort. We like taking Disney boat transportation though it does take longer than buses. You can get to GF by boat from MK and to the Boardwalk from DHS. It never took us more than 35 minutes to reach our restaurants from AKL. Have a great trip and enjoy.

AKL to Yachtsman and Flying Fish is a pain. I would not go to DTD; the food is not great enough to warrant the hour one way to get there.

Take bus to DHS. It's a 15 minute walk to FF and 20 to Yachtsman. Or you can wait on the boat but the walk is faster.

What we do is look for what park is having extra magic hours and then take the bus there and hop on the bus to the resort. Then we get vack the same way. I love Yachtsman. We do drive to mostdinners after staying way past the busses. Twice we were rescued by kind bus drivers and driven straight back to the resort (then I'm sure they talk about the dumb drunks who lose track of time ;)). We always make super late reservations so if yours are at a decent hour- you will be fine.
Jiko is incredible btw!
