Getting to Airport Marathon Morning

Hi everyone! Sorry I'm not sure which thread to put this under (transportation, resorts, runDisney?). We have an 8:30am flight out of MCO on 1/7 which is marathon morning (I know, I know ~ but that can't be changed for various reasons). I know traffic is going to be awful so I did book a room at the Hyatt in the airport for the night before, but I would really really love to stay on property that night instead if at all possible. I've looked at maps of road closures for previous years, but my brain doesn't think in map lol. Does anybody have experience with getting to the airport on marathon morning? Is there a particular resort that won't be impacted too much by road closures and that would allow a relatively easy route to the airport?

I can't answer your question, but I would use a transportation company familiar with the event/road closures. We have always used Tiffany Towncar, but I'm sure Mears would be up on all of the closures/delays too.

The answer to your question somewhat depends on what resort you are staying at. Places like Port Orleans or Saratoga Springs would be minimally impacted by road closures.

Don’t quote me, but I believe resorts like BW, CBR, Riviera, YC, BC, Swolphin would be a relatively easy jaunt to the exit for 417 to head to the airport - possibly Pop and AoA…

Please someone chime in and tell me if I’m blatantly incorrect!

It does look like Epcot Resorts Blvd was open in 2023 so unless traffic backs up there, it should be good, especially exiting on the Speedway end.

I think think the only resorts I would definitely avoid would be the Monorail resorts, Wilderness Lodge and Coronado Springs. the rest look like there are routes around the road blocks that could get you out of the WDW area. You might want to allow an extra 1/2 hour if near one of the road blocks just in case traffic is backed up.

You should be fine as long as you book a hotel that was previously mentioned. Stay away from MK resorts and give yourself extra time that morning. I’ve run it twice and the route is consistent in regards to closures.
