Getting through WS

I'm trying to work out a plan for our day in Epcot. We are bringing our 4 year old for the first time, so most of our time will be spent with Elsa and Nemo. However, we want to go all the way around World Showcase, with enough time to have a quick look (not to eat lunch or go on any of the attractions.) I haven't been to Epcot in 6 years so I can't remember how much time it takes to walk around the countries. I know everyone will do it at a different pace, but I'm having trouble even coming up with an estimate. An hour? Two? Help!

Just strolling through and stoping in a few shops here and there, it can probably be done in around an hour. Obviously dependent on walking speed, time in shops, etc. Can really spend as much or as little time as you want.

If you want to stop in every country and check out the shops, then I'd budget between 1-2 hours. You could spend a lot more, or less if you want to skip stuff, but around that 1-2 hour mark should be enough to let you see majority of everything.

When DS was 4, we had times we'd spend less than an hour... we had times we'd spend half the day... and everything in between. Usually when we'd least expect it we'd find ourselves spending a lot of time there, especially when we got into the KidCot stuff, Passports, etc. Have fun!

Don't forget there are a lot of Character Meets around World Showcase. Three Caballeros Donald in Mexico, Anna & Elsa in Norway, Mulan in China, Snow White in Germany, Jasmine in Morocco, Belle &/or Aurora in France, Alice & Mary Poppins in UK. Not sure if they still have the Pooh characters there too?

Also Pluto near the area where World Showcase and Future World meet.

Some people have reported that little ones liked seeing the acrobats in China.

A lot depends on whether you want to do attractions in World Showcase or not

Last week we walked through from International Gateway to Norway in about 20 min. But the only thing we stopped for was to see the train in Germany for a few min.
If you want to do meet & greets, shopping, films or entertainment it could be 1-3 hours.

I'd say budget an hour and a half. That gives you wiggle room to shop, maybe meet a character you come upon, and deal with potential crowds.

I would budget at least two hours if you plan on meeting Anna and Elsa and riding FEA. Your 4-year old may also enjoy the ride in Mexico, playing the drums in the outpost, watching the trains in Germany, seeing some of the shows and character meet and greets.

I'm thinking more like 3-4 hours to wander through the countries with a four year old - you never know what will strike you or your child.

And WS is quite large with a 1.2(ish) mile promenade.

I'd be inclined to over budget time so if you do find something you want to see or a snack/drink to try or an attraction you want to experience you can do so without pressure.

I feel 2-3 hours is more likely than 1-2. I've never done it this way, but I would suspect that if you started in Mexico and power walked all the way around through the exit to WS by Canada, it would take at least 30 minutes. I remember me and the kids getting off Test Track last October and having to hurry to Japan to meet my wife for an ADR. We alternated between jogging and walking very fast and it took us a good 10-12 minutes to get there.

Since you clearly state that you're not eating lunch or going on any of the attractions (ie, FEA doesn't even enter the picture here, right?) I'm thinking that it shouldn't take you any longer than 1.5 to 2 hours to leisurely walk through all the countries.

I was thinking it is weird that you said no attractions, what about Frozen Ever After, 4-6 yr olds need to do that. The first time we went to Disney my DD was 6 and DS was 4. We had to do the princess lunch in Norway at Akershus. And my kids loved the Passports and Kidcot stops. My husband I would take turns at the Kidcot stations and one would watch the kids while the other wondered the shops a bit. It was also a great time to rest your feet and let the kids have fun for 15-20 mins in each country. It is also very cool to get their names written in each language in their autograph book. World Showcase is not for all kids, but my kids at that age loved it. And still do and they are 14 and 16 haha

Thanks for the advice! Maybe I should have been clearer, we definitely plan to do FEA with a FP right after lunch. Then I was trying to figure out about how much time would be reasonable to schedule seeing Norway to Canada (skipping attractions like O Canada and Reflections, at least on this trip.) That way I might have an idea when to schedule our next FP at Test Track My husband and I certainly appreciate WS! Normally we would spend more time there and less time doing things like Nemo and Crush, but this is a bit of a different kind of trip. Still want her to see WS! And again, we haven't been there in years and I wasn't even aware of things like Kidcot! Thanks again for the replies everyone.

I would say at least 2 hours. Just walking from place to place at a casual walk. That should be ok, omitting FEA and lunch. Kidcot is amazing. It is really interactive and the kids really take to it. See if it is there thing. If they like it, go with it, it gives you more time to tour the WS. That said I would say 2 hours min. and 4 hrs max. to really enjoy WS with children.....now as an adult, lol, ALL DAY!!! haha good luck

Our kids aren't very interested in stopping in WS if it doesn't involve a ride or food. So we just stroll through it. There are a few hidden gems in there like small museums (ex-Norway and Morocco) that we'll stop and see, but it can be done in an hour and half. Occassionally we stop for KidCot stops, but often we just stroll through. Where we spend the most time is Norway (Frozen), Germany (the train), and Mexico (Grand Fiesta Tour).
