getting through both parks in 1 day

My schedule is very rushed, so I only have 1 day for universal studios.
On 12/29 I am planning to go to islands of adventure at 8 am. About how long will it take to get through the rides?
The rest of the day will be for universal studios.
I am also probably going to buy universal express for both parks ($50)
any other tips?

I think you are very wise to purchase the EP for 12/29 as the crowds will be brutal. You'll probably still have long waits for most..if not all attractions. Since you're getting there early, do the bigger rides first and work your way around as best as you can. I don't do any parks that week because of the crowds. Have a great time and just be patient!
