Getting through airport security: traveling alone with 5 year old...

Brrrr. You must be really cold. I'm a little cold myself. The AC was turned way up in my office.
I hate you.

TSA itself recommends no underwire bras and limiting the amount of metal on your person.http://www.tsa.dhs.gov/travelers/airtravel/screening_experience.shtm
The vast majority of underwire bras no longer have metal underwire in them.
If you notice, the TSA explanation mentions 'metal' in underwear bras. They pose no issue anymore. I know from first hand experience...have yet to be pulled aside for 'further' security.

As long as they can walk the kiddos go first. Most of the time they will stop the child. Once at LAX an agent didn't stop my just turned 2 year old. I had to yell at him to grab the kid which he didn't want to do. I guess I forgot to say specifically that we were alone. I had a newborn in my arms. They do let you carry children who do not walk of course. So if you are traveling alone make sure you let them know that they need to hold the child righ on the other side. They are more than willing I just forgot that one time. To me the slip on shoes are not a huge deal. Shoes can slip off without untying and then you can sit down a regroup after to tie shoes. I would rather deal with the sneakers if it means packing less. I am actually able to do one carry-on with my girls on a 3-4 night trip now that they are 5 and 7 but we only bring the shoes on their feet.

I want you to go sit in the coldest corner of your home and think about how you can be nicer to me. ;)

Yeah, well, I'm looking at about 3' of snow, with banks of about 6-7' high. It's now sleeting. I am not in the mood to be nice to anyone who isn't in the same situation!!! Which, my dear, leaves you way out of the picture!!!!
And that, my friend, is about as nice as I can be at the moment!!

It seems as though a quick trip to Florida is the only thing to improve your outlook. :rolleyes1

The site says these items MAY set off a detector. Unless you're wearing an obnoxiously large men's watch or trophy-style belt buckle, you will not be wearing enough metal to trigger an alarm. It's always a good idea to think about the total amount of metal on your person, but no woman who needs an underwire bra should ever go without. :rotfl:

Good point about the bra!:rotfl2:

However I have to tell you that I have had a silly gum wrapper set of the metal detector. It was the only thing that alerted on me when they wanded me. It could be though that they had the detecors turned way up because they were bored and wanted something to do.:scratchin
