Okay, so I apologize if this has already been discussed in a thread somewhere but the search is disabled at the moment from server updates... But how did you get your groom's tux to FL?

Our planner said we can go to Men's Warehouse, get fitted, etc., and the day before the wedding they'd drop off the tux to the resort. So we went to a local MW and got fitted etc, and asked them how the process works in getting the tux once down in FL and they said we'd have to venture out & go get it ourselves; there was no such thing as "room service" as our planner explained other groom had done. So I just don't know if MW person we were dealing with was misinformed or if our planner was misinformed.

So what I want to know is how did you/do you plan on get the tux to FL?

Did you/do you plan on getting the tux beforehand and bring it on as a carry on or put it in your luggage?

I'm pretty sure I've read a couple PJ/TRs where the couple had the tux dropped off/picked up, etc! Did you go with a different rental company that was able to bring it to your resort the day before the wedding?

If you brought it to FL with luggage, how did you keep it fresh & wrinkle free? Did you steam it yourself or hire someone?

So far we're planning on picking up the tux and DF's family is leaving the day after the wedding so they'll bring it home for us, but we're really worried about wrinkles & don't want to pay for it to be steamed..

Hopefully this might help me & any other brides/grooms in the future! (sorry again if there was already a thread on this topic...) TIA!

The drop-off service is only provided by the Winter Garden branch of MW Tux, which is why your local chain hadn't heard of it. Take all the fitting info you got from your local store and call the Winter Garden branch at 407-656-7700. They will arrange to have exactly the style/size/pieces you need delivered to your resort before the wedding and pick them up after the wedding. We used this service for our anniversary with great results.

For our wedding, we had a similar service provided by Carolyn Allen Bridal & Tuxedo. In that instance, though, we had a fitting a few days before the wedding just to be sure that he'd been measured correctly by our local tuxedo shop. Carolyn Allen came out to our hotel and the guys tried on their tuxes. As it turned out, the best man had been incorrectly measured and, unfortunately, CA could not get the correct size in time for our Monday-morning wedding because their warehouse was not open over the weekend.

So, if possible, schedule a fitting in enough time that pieces can be exchanged in the warehouse if there's a problem (most formalwear dealers only keep certain styles and sizes on hand - the rest come from an out-of-town or out-of-state warehouse).

We just did this with Men's Warehouse and our local one and they looked at us like we were crazy too. But we just showed them the e-mail from the Men's Warehouse and spoke directly with the MW near Disney and everything is taken care of. All we really had to do was get measured at our local one then they sent the info down to Florida. Any changes we need to make from here on out will be through the Mw in Florida.

Hmm, thanks Carrie! VERY helpful! Yes we're super concerned about the Tux not fitting right if we get down there =( Even in the store he had tried on a tux & unless I had said something I think Nyx would have looked like he was playing dress-up in daddy's clothes! He's got long legs but a shorter torso so he needed a "short" & I think the guy fitting him was newer... Our problem is that we get to FL the day before the wedding so there is little to no time to go out & exchange things =\ So I think we're going to get it a couple days before the wedding locally here in NY & give it its own suitcase, but we're concerned over it getting wrinkly :sad2: We've already ended up ordering the tux locally so maybe when we go back for our 1 year we'll have it delivered! Now that we know it is in fact possible =P

Yeah when we asked the guy at our local one he was kinda rude and was like, "Uh, NO, we don't do that...." I'm just concerned about the guy who fit DF as he seemed new >_> We want the tux to fit! ;)

not to steal the thread but what if groom is going to bring his tux/suit any recommendations beyond a garment bag?

That was *exactly* our problem! The best man (well, and DH, cuz they're twins) required a "short," but the fellow who measured him didn't seem to know that was a choice. And "short" is a variation the shops don't keep on hand. :sad2:

Maybe a suiter? You know, one of those suitcases that folds in half for transport but opens out into 3/4 the length of a suit, with a flip-up panel for the pants legs?

I was figuring as much lol though I was hoping for an alternative since we have to carry so much with us.

Thank you Carrie

I think what we're going to do is give it its own suitcase.. Since his parents only require a small suitcase (they're staying only 2 nights) we're going to use one of their other suitcases so we don't have to carry it... but our concern is the wrinkle-age that might (and probably will) happen... we're thinking of trying to roll it up to avoid wrinkles so we'll see...:confused3

Wow thank you for posting this..it never occurred to me to think of having someone else count it in there luggage. We have a few little ones in our group who will not have any carryon. I may be able to pass another bag as one of there carry ons so we can bring his suit inflight with us.

Your welcome!! I'm hoping this plan works and I am just curious as to any other brides who have taken it on board with them.. Hopefully we'll hear from some other couples who have done this to see how their process went for them =)

My fiance is not wearing a tux but a linen suit. This will be travelling in our suitcase and will end up one big crease! So, we are going to get Carolyn Allens to steam it along with my dress. Apparently its only another $20 to have the suit steamed (dress is $85).

One thing I will say about MW is that they do not do custom fitting. DF was in a wedding in Tennessee, we live outside Seattle. So he went and got measured and picked up his tux and the shirt was HUGE. When I called to inquire about a shirt that fit properly MW told me that they only go off of neck size. What that means is if you happen to have a small guy that has a neck size of 17 the shirt is like a tent. All the guys looked like they were wearing dresses and we forced to keep their jackets on all night. When the jacket was on it was fine but once they took them off they looked like they were playing dress up.

One plus is that it is very convenient as there are MW all over.

That really sucks! I'd hate for that to happen... Thanks for letting us know about your experience though! Gives us a heads up if that happens to us!

We used MW and it was really convenient and easy! Just make sure everyone knows where their suit needs to be for pick up the next day though. The best man was given some wrong information and it was pretty stressful for everyone else to track it down and get it to the right place after he already left town.

Thank you so much for this information!! You are truly and wealth!! I told DF about Carolyn Allen and he was totally game. We'll have to travel with my dress to begin with so this just makes it easier on us. Not to mention it seemed a bit silly to both of us to rent a tux for the entirety of our trip and return it once we get home. The fact that they have delivery and pick up service sold us both. DF has business in Orlando often so we'll just get the tux squared away one time when we're down there before January.

Thanks again!!

Glad I could help! If you're bringing your gown, you might also be interested in Carolyn Allen's dress shipping and delivery service. It's only $15 plus the cost of shipping (mine was $23 going out via FedEx and $30 coming back via UPS). You send it to CA a week or so before, then they bring you the dress on the day of the wedding and, for another $85 or so, steam it for you in the room. After the wedding you leave the dress and the tux at Bell Services, and CA picks them up and ships the dress back to you. They will also clean the dress and preserve it, but I did those on my own when I got the dress back.

It was one of the best decisions I made for the wedding. :thumbsup2

Yes, yes, yes!! That is super helpful and I will probably end up doing that, makes travel a lot less stressful.

Okay just updating since we figured out how we're getting our Tux to Disney without services in FL:

DF's parents ended up buying one of those Tux Rolls (we were going to end up giving it its own suitcase, but they surprised us with this). I think lurkyloo ended up mentioning one of these type of things earlier, but you open it up, put the suit in (& it can hold 2 suits says the brochure), and it rolls up on itself. There is also a middle part where you can put things like shoes, etc. in.

A picture for reference:

It kind of looks like a round duffle bag...

HTH any other brides & grooms! =) This looks very promising~
