Getting the AP Discount at CRT for Party of 11?

Apparently there's a 10% discount for AP holders at CRT. Wifey and I will have them, the rest of our party will have regular hoppers. There will be 3 adults, including me, splitting the check. Is there a way to get the discount without me putting the whole thing on my CC and then settling up with the others later?

You have to purchase your meal when you reserve so someone is going to have to put their credit card down just to get your seating. If you want to be seated together 1 person has to make the reservation and pay for everyone. If you want to use your AP discount you have to pay for the meals. You can have other give you giftcards for meals and use those in addition to a credit card. You can also charge to the room and then have each person pay off their amount before the card is charged automatically.

We did CRT years ago when our first 2 grand kids were very young so I don't remember the process. As I recall I did have to give my card number but I could cancel 48 hours out. What will happen now if I reserve? Will my card get hit immediately? Can I cancel as before? Is the procedure the same for all the character meals?

You can cancel and be refunded, but you have to actually pay up front for everyone who is dining when you make the reservation.

If you do not have a dining plan, CRT is a fully pre-paid meal at the time you make the reservation. Your card will be charged for all the meals. If there are others who will be paying and you have their cc info you can probably call and have the castmember charge more than one card.

The cancellation policy is usually on the dining confirmation.

The Dinner shows (Hoop De Doo, Spirit of Aloha Luau and Mickey's Backyard Barbecue) and CRT are all pre-pay at the time you make the reservation. Most of the character meals (e.g. Chef Mickey, Crystal Palace, Garden Grill, Tusker House, Akershus, etc) are pay when you eat, although every dining reservation will require credit card info for the no show penalty when you make the reservations.

As far as the AP discount, it will be refunded to your card when you dine because the server usually wants to see the AP. However, I thought the AP dining discount only applies to the cardholder and 3 guests. I don't know how this will work if you pre-pay the whole bill. Maybe use your wife's credit card to pre-pay some of the meals so she can also get the AP discount?

Thanks to all for the info. My daughters will decide when and where and tomorrow I'll make the ADR. If I understand properly wifey and with our APs should be able to discount 10 of the 11 of us.

If you have two AP you'd only actually be able to discount 8 of you. It's the AP holder plus three guests.

Whatever we get is a bonus, the kids are doing this discount or no but it's good to know going in what to expect.
