Welcome to the DIS boards!
First of all, go to this web site where you can compare prices between the dates in May and the dates in October that you thinking of going.
www.allseastravel.com They list their rates right on their web site.
I think you'd find that most people would prefer to go in May since it's not considered to be "hurricane weather", but I know there are many people who love to cruise in October, as well.
Since you are a family of 5, you'd need to either book a Category 4 (or above). Category 1 is the most expensive, and it goes down from there. OR, you can book 2 cabins in any other category because Categories 11-5 only hold a maximum of 4 people. Often times, 2 Category 10 cabins are less money than 1 Category 4, and with 2 cabins, you'd get double the space and double the bathroom space.
As for which ship, that's easy because the Magic ONLY does the 7 night cruises, and the Wonder ONLY does the 3 and 4 night cruises. So...once you decide how long you'd like to cruise for, that would determine your ship.
I hope this info is a good start for you. Keep reading these message boards and before you know it, you'll be an expert on the
Disney Cruise Line
