Getting Ready for our July Trips to the World

I haven't worked out since Wednesday. Last night was DS's spring concert and I always take Fridays off. My eating has been good and I hope to see that on the scale tomorrow

Don't ya love it when you find something that's good for you and tastes good and then your kids discover them too so you don't get a single one?

I did sooo good yesterday that is until the last few calories of the day. See MFP wouldn't just let me have the 300 some odd calories left on my thing. It kept saying I needed to eat MORE and would go into starvation mode if I didn't get my intake up there. So I ate 2 packs of sliced apples...hardly made a DENT but it put me right at my sugar intake limit. I ended up having a bowl of cereal and still had 10 calories left (and was STUFFED) but it STILL said I would send myself into starvation mode :confused3 So I had a granola bar...went over calories, fat, sodium and sugar intake for the day and felt like a cow. Today though I'm going to nip it in the bud! Today I will STOP eating by 7pm. Nothing will pass my lips after that point except water and green tea. I also didn't get to the gym yesterday with Meghan getting pink eye, on the upside the doc said she could go back to school today (and her eye has deffinately improved) so Gillian is going to hourly care (although I'm almost out of hours so I will have to figure something out there).

This morning I made a 4 egg white with diced ham and graded baby bell cheese wrap on a spinach and garden herb tortilla...I was :scared1: by the amount of sodium I'm putting in my body...who knew egg whites even had sodium?

What is MFP? Sounds like a yummy breakfast. Glad to hear your DD is getting better.

I hear you! I do great during the day, in the evening is when I blow it. I need to get to the gym today. I had lunch out with a friend, and that is always tough. I think I am going to have to become antisocial......lol!!

You just have to make smart choices or just save up for a meal out.

I'm not planning on any specific exercise, because we're going to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The walking will be enough stress on my leg, so I'm going to take care of me. That reminds me, I should pack some gallon size storage bags to hit up the ice machine to ice my leg at night!

Have fun. We enjoyed the Hall of Fame but didn't really have enough time to explore everything. Great thinking about taking the storage bags.

I had another good day yesterday. I got in 40 mins of exercise, stayed within my calorie range and wrote everything down. I have an awesome little program on my phone that makes it so easy ;)

OH yeah, two favorite new snack words (and a letter!) I never thought I'd say:

SPECIAL K BAR

Nice job!!!!

I didn't end up in spin class as I would have hoped:( When I got to the gym, the hourly care slots were all full (they are short staffed) so I waited for an hour and a half at my friend's house, talking with her. Then I went back and realized that the pool was closing for some scuba class at 12 noon. It was 11am so I had a good solid hour to swim laps. I got out a kick board and a pair of flippers and swam laps for about 40 minutes, jogged in the water for 5 and then ran on the treadmill for 5. At this point, my thighs were JELLO so I came home. I will be mowing the lawn here shortly too which also add's to my exercise intake!

That sucks about missing your class, but at least you got in a good workout.

MFP is the abreviation for My Fitness Pal. It's an online website that you can use to help you with weight loss. It tracks your calories (as well as protien, sugar, sodium or what ever other nutritional information you want it to) and your exercise. The day's when I don't get to the gym (kid's sick, hourly care not having openings all day) are the one's that are the thoughest. I have to eat exactally 1200 calories or it says I will go into starvation mode.

This weekend (because the girls don't have school and I cant take them to the cardio room with me) I'm going to fill up on fiber to help me stay fuller longer and as much protein as I can (shrimp skewers for dinner).

I did weigh myself this morning and am at 210.2. I'm going to be making a doctors appointment on Monday to get a physical done and possibly some blood work. Hypothyroid run's in my family and I think I may have PCOS which eventually leads to diabetes and that's something I DO NOT want to mess with.

The two who came this time are from Hamilton and from Paisley. One from Hamilton comes at least once a year to visit me :) Coming to NY to visit us is WDW :rotfl2: I always have her bring me two things: tea bags and chocolate. Both of which are way better over there. And the chocolate is KILLING me :rotfl:

My mom came here in her early 20's, met my dad and the rest is history. She never planned on staying and has a huge family over there. Are you from Scotland?

Yes I'm from Stirling about half an hour drive from Hamilton, probably nearer and hour from Paisley by the time you deal with the traffic getting through Glasgow.

Not sure if you are at WDW before or after me, I could leave you a package! :thumbsup2

Well my week was pretty good food and exercise wise until the weekend - lol - Since Monday I did 3 spin classes and one Bodyjam class and then the mountain biking event on Saturday. Only did one lap which took me just over 2 hours (mainly coz the mud was so bad - the rain and hailstones :confused3 from the night before were unbelievable!) - the rain was soooooooooooooo heavy there was no way I was dragging myself out for another lap later, you should've seen the state of some of my friends after their laps later in the day - they were head to toe caked in mud and were able to wring huge rivers of water out of their clothes!!! It was fun though. Eating was pub food and energy food (lol read as chocolate!) all weekend though so not sure the scales will be in my favour tomorrow! Will let you know!

Hey, I EARNED mine! If by earned you mean "multiple surgeries on the OTHER leg and so on and so forth." I just recommend that if you're exercising and you think your calf is cramping up on you... stop. Just... stop. Don't do anything. Rest, take anti-inflammatories, and come back in a week. I learned the hard way that what I thought were two cramps were two tears.

LOL sorry :worship:! That actually made me screw up my face thinking of the pain! Hope it's all better soon and advice noted!!

I have been to Scotland twice so far, both times we've been to Stirling. We've even climbed the stairs to the Wallace Monument...it was a lot of stairs. My uncle told us not to ever, ever tell anyone he'd take them there because he was never doing that again. The following year, one of my brothers went. What'd I say? Make sure you ask Uncle Tommy to take you to the Wallace Monument:confused3 Can you believe my uncle wouldn't take him?:rotfl2::rotfl2:

I will say it's beautiful, though. We're hoping to take dd in 2 years, because she hasn't been yet. We may be there around the same time, actually, if you are going for more than a week. We are there the 19th until the 26th of July. I have enough tea to last until that same uncle and aunt come in October. They come here every year, unless they are doing something like...oh I dunno...going to WDW? Can I just tell you ladies that 18 people, before the whole grand gathering thing, really wasn't as much fun as it sounds?

I did better than I thought this weekend, considering that we went out yesterday. I didn't get any 'focused' exercising in, but we did do a lot of walking around that I wouldn't normally have done, so I'm counting it :woohoo:

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

I get so off schedule on the weekends! Hard to get "formal" exercise in and my diet goes out the window. I am hoping to get back on track this week. I am thinking about Weight Watchers again....any thoughts?

And then I forgot to use them! :bored: Not my brightest move!

Good luck! My doctors won't test me until I have problems getting pregnant. The idea that I'm concerned about my health seem to go RIGHT over their heads!

Hehe, thanks. A few more months to go, I guess!

The trip was kind of a bust. I'm hoping I heal very quickly, as I'm now 9 weeks injured and 7 weeks until our trip. The car ride was painful. I got through the museum okay, but I forgot to ice. Sleeping was hard, because my stupid leg hurt. Yesterday was worse, because my leg hurt SO MUCH and then I had the car ride back on top of it. I tried to go work out but, after 10 minutes, I had spent too much time thinking "that doesn't feel right," so I stopped.

So this is data that I might be in the shape of my life and may be able to survive my first day at Disney, but the days after may not be so good! ;)

I'm done having kids so far (after the 3rd girl, we cut our losses) so I dont have to worry about that one. I can say though that the last time I had my testoserone checked, it was 69. I get facial hair and side burns...bad acne, and the weight gain. It also doesn't help that hypothyroidism runs in my family and I'm already showing some of the same symptoms for that (sensitive to hot and cold...but more cold then hot, tired often and headaches). I'm going to MAKE them realize that I'm in this for my health to be preventative even though having more kids is the farthest thing in my mind.

I did mostly good for the weekend...that is until Sunday night when boredom eatting got the better of me. I made up for it (or tried to atleast) at the gym today...60 minutes of water aerobics and 13 minutes on the treadmill (not the 30 I wanted but I will take what I can get put out there before the class started :rotfl2:).

Carrie have replied to your PM but yes I am v close the Wallace Monument, infact we went for a walk up there a few weeks ago, have pics of my wee boy sitting up there in the sun.

Well have started the week well. Lost a pound, which is pretty rubbish but considering I didn't have a great weekend food and drinkwise I'm quite happy with that. Left work sharpish and drove through terrible wind (there are trees down everywhere here today ) to get to my spin class. Was supposed to stay and do the Bodyjam class after but thought I'd come home and spend a bit of time with the wee one since bad mummy was away for the weekend.

Good luck with this week everyone!!

I had a lazy exercise day today...23 minutes on the eliptical after doing some strength training. Total calories burned 230. Not near the 600 and some odd I'm used to from a spin class or the 300 some odd from water aerobics but I will take it. I had Subway for lunch today...6 inch turkey on whole wheat minus cheese with veggies and one tbsp of honey mustard and picked up a salad from Walmart for dinner that I'll add some grilled chicken to for protein. Doing good on water consumption too.

Hey everyone! I've been doing pretty well food and exercise wise, not perfect but definitely more good than bad. I can tell a difference in my stamina and the fit of some of my clothes but the scale hasn't budged! Grrr! It would be really disheartening if I couldn't see some changes though. I didn't work out today. Unless you count slamming my finger in the plasma freezer at work and dancing around the room trying (unsuccessfully:rolleyes1) to keep from screaming a string of very colorful and (if I do say so myself) really inspired curse words! But that probably doesn't count. It did raise my heartrate though! Now that the weather is nice again I'm hoping to ride my bike around post more and to start running again. I'm a fair weather runner so I always seem to be starting from the beginning. Oh well...is it time to go to WDW yet?!

I'm successfully using my recumbent exercise bike for 30 minutes at a time! :woohoo:

AND THEN! The scale yesterday informed me that I'd lost 2.4 pounds! :scared1:

A pound of it can easily be attributed to a specific time of the month, but WOW! Just.. WOW! Talk about encouragement to keep on keepin' on! I'm almost halfway to my first goal! (Which is good. I WANT my reward at my goal.)

I'm making the final payment for our trip today, which is pretty darned exciting! :) (And pretty darned motivating, too - haha!!)

Congratulations!! Losing is a motivating factor for sure! I am making our final payment on Friday - we are under 50 days!!! I am on my way to the gym now.

Ok, I have weighed myself for the first time since last Wed. I did the Wii fit every day except Sat and Sun. I've been really strict about what I'm eating. I even passed on my dad's bd cake (big big thing for me, cake!)

and I lost

9 lbs!!!:banana::banana::woohoo::woohoo:

I know it's mostly because I gave up soda and 'bad' carbs, but I was still shocked! I did 45 minutes again today before I lost my happy thoughts LOL

EXCELLENT work on the lbs lost guys!

So because my scale is acting iffy and the one at the gym is most deffinately broken, I tried out the scale at my friends house. Middle of the day taking a break from helping mow her lawn (huge job, took over an hour and was well worth the 500 cal's burned off!) it said I weighed 200lbs:eek: The last time I got my scale to work it said I was 211 so I duno if it's correct or not...which leaves me to tomorrow morning using my wii fit scale to see what I'm in at. I do know I have lost weight because my bra size is now smaller (band and cup) and my face is starting to look thinner. Friends also keep telling me I'm looking skinnier. So tomorrow morning I will weigh in and hope for the best (please Dear Disney Magic let me have broken through the 212-210 hurdle and be oh 207!)

Grey~ Don't beat yourself up! Just get right back up on that horse and show it who's boss! Believe me...with PMS my diet was borderline HORRID! I was eating bowls of my kids high sugar cereals, baking cookies, cakes! OMG I though for sure I was a gonner but I picked myself back up, put on my big girl panties and told myself that my weight was not going to get the better of me! You can do it too!
