Getting Ready for our July Trips to the World

Well I had a run in with WORK today :-( stayed on an extra 3 hours so was about 7.30 pm before I got home (DS was already asleep - boo hoo) and hubby is nightshift tonight so he's about to go out (It's just after 8.30 pm here) so no gym for me! I guess I could get my Zumba DVDs out (once he goes to work as I soooo won't Zumba infront of him) and try and learn some new stuff as I expect they'll be trying to get me to take some Zumba for staff fitness at work on the run up to summer! Hmm! Though I do have more work home with me so I should really finish that! Decisions. I've been pretty good foodwise today though!

Well done everyone!

Hey everyone, I'm just checking in, because I don't know when my next chance will be. I have company coming from Scotland tomorrow and they will be staying with me for the next ten days :)

So on Tuesday it was my 24th wedding anniversary. We went to the mall and then to lunch. While we were in the mall, we saw a Doorway to Dreams store and decided to go check it out. For those who don't know, it's a place that sells DVC . Which we finally decided to buy. We've been hemming and hawing about it since 2007, when we first looked at it. This time, it was just the right set of circumstances.

Stay motivated and I'll check in when I can. BTW, the meds that cause the weight gain...the doctor increased them yesterday UGH!!

Well y'all convinced me and at 10:30am this morning I will be in my first ever SPIN class! My weight has been stuck at 212.8 and I REALLY wanna be in the 100's (I will take 198 right now) so I got some VPX Meltdown after reading articles about it and talking to my local GNC guy. I have to be on a high protien and veggie diet with an emphisis on atting few carbs that are not high in fiber. I'm also not allowed to eat white carbs after 7 and I have to have protien with all of my meals. So today is the first day I am going to be on these pills and I'm REALLY going to have to work to get my protien intake up. Apparently eatting Protein makes you release stred body fat? I didnt know that (then again maybe that Atkins guy was on to something?)! I have to give YDD a bath and get her ready to go and then me (her hair is sticking up all over the place and so is mine)and refill my water bottle (33 oz over 4x a day for a total of 132 oz) then get out the door by atleast 9:30 to wait in line to get on post to get to the gym....then I'll be on that bike spinning my rear (and thighs) off!

Congrats on behaving with food!!! That is my downfall.

Sorry to hear about your meds - but what great news on DVC!!!! Where is your home resort?

Can't wait to hear about spinning! I have read that even if you eat carbs, you need to have protien with them. Jillian Michaels also recommends eating protien within 30 minutes of exercise to help your body burn fat, not muscle.

disneywatcher WOOHOO for spin! I hope you liked it :)

Carrie, have fun with your company!!! And woot woot for DVC! We have never even looked in to it (probably a good thing haha!) We already own a timeshare in Orlando, so I don't think we will ever buy DVC but who knows... And I hope the meds do not wreck too much havoc :(

As for me, yesterday was an off day ... so today I show up for spin but I go an hour early LOL I normally take the 9:45 spin/flex class (we do upper arm workout after the spinning) well I showed up to the 8:45 class all confused ... but GO ME! I stayed for BOTH classes! I burned 1100 calories and earned 11 weight watcher APs!

I was in desperate need of a shower so came home and took a quick one and just had roast beef and gouda sandwich (with some lite mayo and lettuce) oh and some grapes. It was yummy!

Now relaxing watching Glee :)

Mo I have to admi my downfall is sweets. I would be a WREK if I lived in your neck of the woods with Cadburry chocolates  I love their chocolate coated biscuts so much that it REALLY takes restraint for me NOT to buy them at the post grocery store. Well done keeping on the food track!

Our (well mine so far I'm still trying to talk DH into it)goal is to eventuallybuy into DVC. Congrats on making an investment in future trips to the World and all over the world :thumbsup2 Sorry your doc upped your weight gaining meds. Did you ask him if there was something diffrent you could take?

Well I did an hour long spin class at the post gym. I thought it would be semi easy but I was WRONG! OMG I was sweating out of places I didnt think I could/would sweat out of! There were times I would look at the clock to see how much longer the class was because I honestly didnt think I could make it that's how much of a work out it was! I kept at it though (even though now my bum hurts REALLY bad!) and will be going back to the Friday Spin class at 9am. I would go to the one tomarrow but it's at 5:15 and with DH deployed I would need someone to sit with all 3 of my girls instead of the one. So the question is after a 600 calorie blast doing Spinning today....what do I do tomarrow? There is an AM Zumba class, but I dont think my knees would be able to handle that just yet....so should I just go to the Cardio/weight lifting room and do some circuts there (30 min treadmill 30 min eliptical with some weights thrown in for good measure) or should I go swim laps for about 30 minutes? I have to admit I'm so far so good on the food track as well. I had a GNC Lean Shake for breakfast (made strawberries and creme with 1% milk because when makin it with water it just tasted funky) then for lunch I got a Tendergrill salad at BK (no dressing from there though) and apple fries. Came home and had 2 tbsp of Newmans Light honey mustard with my salad and nixed the caramel for the apple fries. I'm working on my 2nd 33oz of water bottle right now as well. I got out Ground Beef for dinner and I'm thinking about making Spagetti and meatballs with whole wheat pasta which means I need to run to the store for a bag of salad...cant have that without salad KWIM?

oh the sweets! When we lived in England I would go crazy in Tesco haha! The desserts and treats were sooooo yummy!

haha yes your bum will hurt for a while ... you can get one of those gelled bike seat covers at walmart to use at first ... it helps some :) And yes it is an intense workout but remember you can always gear down and no one really knows ;)

As for zumba, I say go for it! I was interested in it (a good friend lost 90 pounds doing zumba!!) but I was a bit scared to go ... well I went one day and loved it! And I am a bit girl ;) The class I go to is basic zumba and she shows modified versions of the harder steps ... I really enjoy it!

Are you doing any sort of strength training yet? It definitely is a good idea to do it 2-3 times a week!

Mmm and spaghetti sounds good! We usually eat the ronzoni smart taste pasta (high fiber but it is like white pasta). We usually eat it once a week ;)

I wish they had 2 spin classes back to back at our gym...your really rockin the cardio! Keep up the good work:banana::banana:
Thanks! Yes, the YMCA is AMAZING! So many awesome classes and two free hours of childcare each visit!!!

Hey y'all! It's sounds like everyone is doing great! I had a pretty good workout after work today. I did about 20 minutes on Ellie, did some upper body strength training, and crunches. DH brought home my "Mother's Day" present today- P90X! Not to be confused with the Mother's Day gift that I will picking out and he will be paying for next weekend!:lmao: Actually, a co-worker gave it to him. She said she ordered it, read the box, and never touched it again until she started clearing stuff out for a PCS. I don't think I am fit enough for it yet but I am going to give it a shot this weekend. Not sure about the pull-up bar though, I'll have to get creative with that one. I really need to work on my eating habits though. I have good days and bad days, not so much the volume of food but the quality of it. Oh wells, I am a work in progress!

I'm sorry I have been MIA. I had a business trip Monday and Tuesday. Tonight I made it to the gym and did my lower body program.

Looks like everyone is doing great. Keep up the good work.

I love spin classes, even though I haven't been to one lately. And yes it does time some time before your behind doesn't hurt.

Carrie, Happy Anniversary!!!!!!

Sorry to hear about your meds - but what great news on DVC!!!! Where is your home resort?

Home resort is Saratoga Springs.

My cousins will be here until the 16th. They are bringing me tea and chocolates. I will try not to eat too many. I figure whatever I do eat at least will be burned off by the walking we'll be doing shopping all day ::rolleyes1 Not my favorite, but it's what they love to do.

As far as the medication thing: I'm going to give this a 4 week longer shot. Then i go back to the neurologist and he's going to decide what to do at that point. He's thinking it's Fibromyalgia and if that is the case, he's going to send me to a reumatologist (sp). I told him I need to be feeling better somehow by July:cool1:

I forgot all about DD's Spring Concert yesterday so I ended up grabbing Taco Bell for dinner. 2 Fresco style chicken burrito's and a bottle of water. Then at the concert my downfall got the better of me! They were having a PTO bake sale and of course I bought things for the kids and for me. Weird though when I weighed myself this morning I was down .2lbs! So today NO sweets for Amanda! I wont even look at them, well unless they come in the form of an apple, orange or strawberry! My tush is nice and bruised this morning so I think I will opt for 30 minutes in the weight room followed by 30 minutes of lap swimming. According to my fitness pal 30 minutes of swimmig laps in a vigorus form burns close to 500 cals! I get 2 hours a day of care at the post gym as well but have to pay for it. Because DH is deployed though I get 16 hours free so If I only go to the gym for 1 hour a day I get 16 days as opposed to only 8 if I go for 2 hours.

Way to go on the Spin class! I wish there was one close to me, I would love to blast 600 calories in one session. I have been averaging 300 on cardio.

Try swimming! A plus with swimming is that because of the water you dont feel any strain on your joints. You may get short of breath but your body wont hurt, well until the next morning or when you get out of the pool.

Ok time to get my protien on and eat healthy meals all day. I also need to find my swimsuit (shouldnt be hard I 2 one pieces) and get it all ready to go and get myself dressed. I really hate North Country weather! It started to warm up and now it's FREEZING!

Hi all! :cheer2:

I saw a doctor yesterday and ... he gave me the okay for light walking! Like, no hurrying, no pounding, but it's okay for me to walk around. He restated the importance of proper footwear, though. It's okay, i'll take it! Tonight, I think I'll walk up and down my block. Please, contain yourself. I know it's mega-excitement

Unfortunately, he reminded me that there is to be no running, jumping, skipping, hopping, anything on tip-toes and NO biking. Looks like I'm going to get very familiar with short slow walks, but it's better than nothing, right?

I think maybe it won't be the calf muscle tear that will kill me in Disney... it'll be how out of shape I am! ;)

yeah for the ok for walks! I am sure just being to get out and do something will be nice! I am so grateful *knock on wood* that I have never really had an injury ...

So my day was good :) Today was ZUMBA day! I adore zumba so much!!! I burned about 700 calories and earned 7 ww APs! Total APs for the week = 37!!

I am going to weigh in tomorrow and I am excited :)

Today I was craving caesar salad and I walked all over walmart looking for light caesar dressing... finally found it in the produce section!!! It was YUMMY! Romaine lettuce, a little light parmasean cheese and the dressing ... 2 point salad :)

Not sure what dinner will be ... my daughter has cheer tonight so it might just be TV dinner night ;)

:woohoo::woohoo::banana::banana: For being able to walk now! Just remember to take it slow, no hills just flat terrain!! You'll be back to your normal self in no time!

Lunch for me seems like a lot of food:
3 Medium celery sticks with 2 TBSP of PB2 spread between the 3 (and yes I actually got all the sticks covered in it!), a mini babybel white cheddar wheel, 2 packages of presliced apples, and a turkey sandwich on 7 grain bread with 1 tsp of honey dijon mustard ooh and for desert some greek yogurt with strawberries in it. Maybe tomarrow I will have a chicken cesar salad, can you tell me the type of light dressing you got?

For my work out today I kept it semi light. I did a short circut through the weights, then I ran for 10 minutes at a pace fluctuating between 4 and 6mph (10 minutes for me used to be tough I could barely make it to 5 minutes) then I went and swam 2 laps fast and furious before I started to do some jumping jacks in the water, running in place and then treading water. In total I burned about 489 Cals today. Dinner tonight will be the Spagetti and meatballs I was supposed to make yesterday.

The salad was not my whole lunch LOL I also had roast beef and gouda cheese on a deli thin roll ... and special k cracker crisps with salsa...

The dressing was the marketplace brand (I think that is walmarts brand?!) It was with all the other dressings and the soy products in the produce section. It was really yummy and one serving was plenty! I actually enclosed it in a tupperware bowl and shook it all up to really coat the romaine lettuce! I think I will probably have another one with my dinner :)

That sounds like more than a lite workout ;) SOmeday I want to be able to run... I have tried the C25K a couple times but still it is too much for me ... maybe every 25 pounds lost I will try it again ... I wish I could swim for real! I do sometimes do laps with a kick board ... I enjoy it but the YMCA with the pool is further away, though we will def. be going there this summer (they have an awesome water park too!)

I ended up eating another caesar salad for dinner LOL Romaine, parm cheese and the yummy dressing! I also put ~4oz salmon on it ... so yummy! I had asparagus and a piece of corn on the cob with it.. oh and milk :) Still have 6 pts left and already got all my good health guidelines in so I will probably eat some peanut butter on a slice of break later (my go to evening snack if I have the points!)

Drank a ton of water today to make sure no nasty water retention messes with my weigh in tomorrow :) Normally I drink 8-9 eight oz glasses a day but today I am on 9 glasses with plans to drink 3 more while at cheer with my daughter.

Gonna hav3e to put that on my grocery list for Friday, well that and some grilled chicken strips :thumbsup2
To me though that work out was light...nothing really hurt when I left...I was dripping sweat when I changed into my swimsuit but when I was in the pool nothing hurt, not even now that I've been out for a few hours. Now spin...thats heavy for me (considering it will only be my 2nd time going though) and tomarrow is going to be a heavy day for me :rotfl:

So I took a "salad" plate down to use for dinner tonight (normally this is the size of plate I give the kiddos) and put my noodles on it along with 4 meatballs. Downed the meatballs and then tried to work on the pasta...half of it is still sitting on my plate. This is soo not the norm for me! I found a water calculator that tells me how much I need to drink every day. Apparently I need to refill and drink down my 33oz water bottle 4x:eek: I'm only on number 2 right now and it's 7pm so I better get to chugging!
