Even though my boyfriend hasn't "offically" proposed, we have both talked about getting married at Disneyland. I've already started thinking about what kind of theme I would like to do, if any. What I have decided is that I would like to go for a fairytale/storybook themed wedding. Mostly in decorations and such.

Anyway, here is my question to all you ingenius people on this board :worship: : Would it be to much to invite my guest to dress as their favorite fairytale/storybook character for the reception? They dont have to if they dont want to, but I think it would be fun to get them into the spirit of things! Any feedback would be greatly appriciated!! :)

So glad to see there is another "bride-to-be" on here that isn't officially engaged yet! I think the idea of having people dress as their favorite storybook characters is adorable. I am looking at a marathon/running theme so I would prefer that people not show up in their running shoes and shoes, visors, and compression clothing.

Most of the people I would like to invite are my friends from the theatre world. So, I thought that they might get a kick out of being able to dress up and have even more fun.

If your friends are theatrical I can see them doing it for you, and you all having fun with it. I saw a really nice wedding on the board recently and they all wore steam punk clothing. I've also heard of brides going all out Victorian, star wars, all out country. Im sure if you did a bit of google digging.... If it fits you and your friends why not :confused3 I bet you'd have a few great photos to share.:goodvibes

I'm not official engaged either and whether my boyfriend proposes or not, I'm having a Disney wedding someday! Being in the theatre world, I would love this idea but I was def let your other guests who are not so inclined that it is optional and you would love to have them whether they dress up or not. Cute idea though.

I would love the opportunity to dress up for a wedding! I think letting people know it's optional will take the pressure off anybody who has any reservations, but I think most of my family/friends would get into the spirit of it (even if it was just something like wearing a tiara/something small if they didn't want to fully dress up)

I also think it's great your getting organised so early - I've been posting on the forums and planning our DFTW for a few months now and only just got engaged last weekend!

Then did you really have to ask? ;)

I'd considered it for a second before you posted your question, and then I pictured my not-so-spontaneous in-laws cowering in a corner.

well, I wouldnt say Im as organized as Id like to be. I have a whole file on my computer dedicated to a disney wedding. My problem is that I keep finding/coming up with ideas, that its really hard to figure out what I want to use and what I dont want!!

BTW, how do u choose more than one response to quote from and make it in one response. Still learning things on here everyday! :worship:

If a lot of your guests are theatrical I can definitely see them having a blast with it and making it fun for even those that decide not to dress because it will definitely add to your whole theme and atmosphere.

I have been waking up in the middle of the night with ideas and e-mailing them to myself. Right now we are just trying to secure a date/location and I am brainstorming on ideas and looking at everything I can get my hands on so that I can come up with ideas for when the real planning begins.

i'm amazed at the number of ladies here already planning before getting the diamond (i too am one! we've talked about it though and decided on wdw but no real ring yet!)

i think dressing up is a fabulous idea. I'd do it as i guess. it takes the pressure off finding an outfit to wear and it helps people relax and enjoy. i'd definately do it x

I just learnt how to do this a few weeks ago so happy to share my newfound knowledge!

There are 3 little icons at the bottom of every post, when you are logged in. To quote multiple responses you click the middle one (next to the "quote" button) that looks like a piece of paper with quotation marks on it. Each one you click will turn red; then when you have selected all the ones you want and are ready to post you hit the "post reply" button at the bottom left of the last thread on the page.

That's a pretty long winded explanation.. hopefully it makes sense!

Thank you for sharing this... I was wondering how to do it as well!!!

Count me as a another "hopefully soon to be Disney bride". There is a ring, it's a custom design and we designed it together back in December. I know that it's done but I haven't seen it since the design phase. As of two weeks ago, I know it was still at the jewelers, and I'm 95% sure it's still there. I've heard that it turned out beautiful and that we have great taste...but I have yet to see the finished ring...and more important have the magic moment where he puts it on my finger....

I think he decided to make payments. At this point I'm pretty sure he's just trying to torture me!! We had a brief discussion about the wedding last time we were at Disney, enough to know that YES, that's where we will get married...but he doesn't want to talk wedding AT ALL until we're engaged. And he says he wants the proposal to be a big surprise (how, I'm not sure, given that I was involved in the design process...but hey, who knows what the heck he's thinking) and I'm not supposed to ask about it....I'm DYING over here. I mean, I know that I'll be wearing it for the next 50 years (hopefully I'll live that long :cool1:) so really, what's wrong with it taking a couple more months to get on my finger....but my inner two year old is throwing an "I WANT IT NOW" fit every day. I was sure it was going to be Valentine's day...then I was sure it was going to be in March....now, I'm trying really hard to not think about it (failing miserably, but hey, I'm trying!!).

So I'm learning as much as I can and doing some prelimnary planning, but obviously can't do much until we're official, which will hopefully be SOMETIME SOON!!! But since I'm the planner in the family, I'm pretty sure I'll end up doing most of the planning anyway, so I don't feel tooooooo bad about getting a tiny head start.

Did I mention that I really really really want him to propose???? I'm not getting any younger over here!!!:rotfl2:

I LOVE your idea of asking your guests to dress in character for the reception...I think theatre people will LOVE this idea. I know my family and friends would kill me, but back in college I was into theatre, and that group would have DEFINITELY gotten into the idea...I can't wait to see the pictures!

Have a great day!
Brooke

Im having pretty much the same problem!! He had asked me if I wanted a ring for christmas last year, but I told him no(long story behind that. lets just say he got a text he wasnt suppose to:eek:) He then told me that he was planning on giving me a ring the next time we went to Disneyland or on a Disney Cruise. That kind of ruined it for me lol. Anyway, we are planning on going to Disneyland either in August or October this year. Im keeping my fingers crossed that he remembers what he told me and finally pops the question! However, I dont think it will happen because he really hasnt started saving any money up for a ring yet. At least not that i know of :rolleyes1

I'll defently post pictures on here of any guests that decided to dress up! It will be fun to see who does. I have a feeling my family would because we are just that crazy
