Sorry for the possible repeat questions. I cannot get the search to co-operate.

Do the servers have a problem with wrapping leftovers? They don't consider it "take out" when you are on the DDP do they? It would be nice to take it back to our villa so we do not waste.

TIA

No no problem with wrapping of leftovers at TS restaurants.

The big problem with "take out" at WDW is that many restaurants don't have time to prepare extra meals, but since these meals are already prepared (and served!) wrapping it to-go is okay.

With so much food, you almost always want to wrap your leftovers for later. We never had any problem doing this. The servers were more than happy to accomodate!

I've had servers ask me if I wanted to have food wrapped (mmm, Boatwright's sweet potato pancakes... wish I had those leftovers right now!).

I've often had left overs put in a styrofoam container to take with. The only problem is that the styrofoam containers are so big and bulky so I have to carry it instead of putting it in my backpack. That's why-ZIPLOC BAGS!-Never leave home (or hotel) without them. So I don't even ask for a container anymore, just pull out the ziploc bag, put my left overs in myself, and head on my way. That is, of course, unless the left-overs are something that need the firm container.

When you take the leftovers are you heading back to your room at that time or how do you keep them cool? I was wondering about bringing a small insulated lunch sack and some reusable ice packs to stick in the fridge at night. Has anyone tried that? Do the fridges have small freezers in them? We're going to be at Coronado Springs.

Just added zip lock bags and and my small soft sided cooler to my packing list. i can can see DS wanting the rest of my steak for a mid night snack. Better pack a knife too!!! No, not flying. Just be very careful that the cooler will keep the food cold enough, lunch bags might not. No ones wants food poision at WDW.

do ya'll then carry your softsided cooler around with you in the parks? I have visions of Twinkiemama talking about how to hook up some sort of reheating element to the pedometer you are using to count steps and loose weight (Disappearing Peeps ala UtahMama). I can't figure out what to do with the leftovers while finishing our park touring.:confused3

Well, I haven't tried this yet. It was just an idea I was considering and wondered if anyone had done it. We're going to be there in a little over a week so it would probably not be that warm most of the days (I don't think I'd try it in the summer in other words. :)) I was really thinking just taking some things like the rest of my 5 year olds sandwich or chicken leg for when he's hungry again in an hour or two or maybe a baked item or fruit that we could use for breakfast or a snack later. I am very cautious about how long I keep food in the fridge and whether I think something was kept cold enough, so if I had any question about whether something was safe to eat it would go in the garbage. I was thinking about taking an insulated lunch sack with reusable ice packs so it would fit in the tote bag I was planning to bring or in the locker I expect we'll rent for sweatshirts, etc. No one has answered the question about whether there is a freezer in the fridge however so the if I can't refreeze the ice packs it won't work. Maybe I'll go to the resort section and ask about the fridge there unless someone here knows???

We have not had a freg at WDW, but other places the freezer section on these is very tiny. A mini size ice tray will fit but not much else. You can also get ice at the resort and replace as needed. My plans would be only to do this at dinner when we would be back to the room to get it in the cooler with ice with in a couple hours at most. We are two weeks away so thinking like you it should not be too warm. Love to hear from you on return how it goes as we are right behind you!!!!!!!

In August during free dining, I saw some people carrying around the park sub-zero ziplock bags. The bags are the size of a large woman's tote bag with plastic handles and are made out of silver plastic. My friend once brought her potluck dish one time to a party and raves about them. I recall the label read: keep foods cold at minus 20 degrees?!? I think they sell them in the supermarket? They can be folded up like a plastic shopping bag and tucked away. We are going in August again and plan to bring these with extra small ziplock bags for ice. Would love to eat those desserts back at the resort late at night!

I'm going to bring along the Rubbermaid Collapsable bowls - the 3 cup size. I saw them at Target today and they were $3.99 each. That way I can use them for eating cereal in the room in the morning and then bring one or two along for bulky leftovers after meals. And they are cheaper than Tupperware - I checked!
