We've gone to Disney 5 times and have never seen the Boardwalk area, right now we have a late lunch (because I couldn't get a dinner, which surprised me) booked for ESPN club and looking at the menu, I think it would be a waste of a TS credit. The truth is, I mainly wanted to just step inside and see it and maybe buy a shirt if the sell them there. And DO they sell them there?? Is it appropriate to walk in and just order a round of milkshakes? Or a some beers and fries and only stay for a bit? If so, I would feel guilty booking a TS and then only getting something small.

We have walked in and just had drinks or an app many times. Do not remember if they have shirts.

Unless there is a big game ( football on Saturday & Sunday, NCAA basketball tournament ) going on it is usually pretty quiet in there during the afternoon. They only take ADRS for lunch Monday thru Friday which is why you saw no dinner opennings. Can't remember if they still had shirts for sale. The shop and arcade area are no longer there.

ESPN only takes reservations for lunch, Mondays through Fridays. No dinner or weekend reservations. IMHO, unless there is a major sporting event happening, you don't need a reservation. DS9 and I walked in twice for lunch and dinner during our last trip the week before Christmas and had no trouble being seated. They also have a bar (and the kids can sit there!) if you just want milkshakes. And you can certainly just step inside and buy a t-shirt (I'm almost positive they have them. I know they have baseball hats and tervis cups because we bought some!). I, too, would not waste a TS credit there. When DS9 and I had lunch there, I had a salad with chicken and he had the kids burger (which came with a cupcake!) and our bill was LESS than our BOG lunch. Walk up, pay OOP and enjoy!

Also, I would really recommend going to the Boardwalk in the evening as that's when all of the entertainment happens, they sometimes show movies on the Village Green and the carnival games will be open (bring cash - they don't take MB's!). And if you really want milkshakes, get them at Ample Hills and not ESPN Club. Ample Hills has arguably the best ice cream on property. Again, if the menu at ESPN doesn't appeal, I'm sure they would have no problem with you looking around and buying a souvenir or just sitting at the bar even for a soda, beer and/or fries.

They still have a small area, off to the side in the restaurant where they sell souvenirs!

We just got some drinks, I don't remember if we had an appetizer or not. Definitely not a problem to do that.

Don't feel guilty.

It's a bar with a menu that includes American bar food classics & 'gastropub' items.

Beers run the gamut from 'American-Swill' to 'America-Craft'.

You can decide when you arrive if using Dining Credits is the best value for your family.

Personally, I have 'thing' for their nachos....and very cold beer....when traipsing from Epcot back to Swan & Dolphin.....

We went to ESPN about 7 PM last November and it wasn't busy at all. We had already eaten, so we just sat at the bar and had a couple drinks, but there was no wait for tables for dinner.

We go almost every trip. We split an order of wings & an order of fries. We're not drinkers, usually get sodas or iced tea. No problem at all just getting apps.
