Getting into DL (not DCA) on June 15th

I know no one knows for sure, but was hoping some of you more frequent visitors can help me with this...

We (DH, DD6, DD3, and more family) are heading to DL from June 10 - 17 (planned before announcement of Carsland). We will likely stick to Disneyland on the 15th (although have parkhoppers) - so my question is, when people line up in advance (overnight), does it create chaos for those who want to get into the other park? We are staying at the Disneyland Hotel - would we be best to try to get in to DL first thing in the morning? Should we use the monorail to avoid all the people or will that be crazy too?

Also wondering... What is it like when the parks reach capacity? Do those who didn't get in just go home??

Thanks for any and all advice!

You should expect that there will be a huge line for DCA, but it will be off to a side so you can get through secturity and into DL with little more problem than crowded walkways and some people confused and walking erractically.

Capacity comes at levels, it's not an all or nothing event. While DCA may reach it, I doubt DL will come close on the 15th. What happens is first they may stop selling hoppers and tickets only good for one park. Stop allowing reentry to people with hand stamps. Then they may stop allowing AP holders in. Stop letting resort guests in. Then wait until people leave and reverse the capactity limitations.

On the 14th it may be a bigger problem since DCA is closed and a couple tens of thousands of guests go to DL instead since that is thier only option. Expect DL to be super busy. The thing that likely will help keep it from reaching capacity is it's a Thursday and most APs are blocked.

What do people do if they've been in the park once, but can't re-enter due to capacity restrictions? Do they hang out waiting? Go back to hotels and try again later? Will there be a line for those wanting to get in once capacity lightens?

On the 14th, with just DL open, what are good strategies? Go early, then back to the hotel once it's crazy? When a park is at capacity, is it wall to wall people or just similar to any summer day?

Thanks!

we are going to be visiting DL and staying the 9-16th. We are staying at the Grand California and planned visiting other attractions outside of disney on the 14th. This might be your best option and the park will be pretty busy since its the only one opened. for the 15th we are going to try and enter DCA through GCH in the morning to see Carsland then head over to DL.

Ultimately, Joelnkelly has the right idea, avoid the parks altogether. That isn't an option for everyone.

People will crowd the Esplanade and line up waiting to get in when Capacity levels are reached. Yes wall to wall people is the correct discription for near capacity days.

Still reaching capacity on the 14th is not likely, it's just not a very busy day to begin with.

On the 14th be at the gates early. Plan to use FP very well. In the afternoon take a break or stick to very high capacity rides or the shows like Captian EO.
