Getting info on Everest Expedition being open that day

I have been reading about the soft openings for Everest Expedition. We only have three days for the parks at the beginning of March. My family will probably want to go to AK on a day Everest is running. Is it possible they will know at our hotel (Pop Century) if it will be running that day? Perhaps it will say in the daily brochure?

I have called our resort and asked them this same question. We will be in Disney March 2-12, and were going to make a point to visit AK on any days they were planning to have EE open and running.

The CM's response is that they will not be able to tell resort guests whether or not the ride is operating, as it's status could change within minutes. He explained to me that "soft openings" are generally a short period of time (for ex. 30 mins) that EE CM's allow a certain number of guests to ride the attraction, and then the attraction closes. Then later on (could be an hour could be all day) they will open the attraction again, and do the same thing...open the attraction for a period of time and allow a certain number of guests to ride before closing the attraction again.

I was disheartened to learn this, as I doubt my family will allow me to hang around EE all day the day or two we are at AK...I guess I will just have to keep my fingers crossed that the days we are there, we will be lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time :scratchin

That's great info DizneyKrazed!! Thanks for sharing! I was wondering this too.

Hmmmm, guess its just down to chance...

I am not too keen on AK, and won't be spending more than half a day there. Here's hoping....

The best place to get info on the soft openings for Expedition Everest is right here on the DIS.
A few years back I kept reading here about the soft openings for Mission: Space. The info was that it was opened during the weekdays but only from around 6pm on. Sure enough, when we got to Epcot MS was closed during the day, but towards evening the barriers were opened and we were allowed in. We did this every day of our trip. Kind of neat to ride something that is not "officially" opened yet.
Keep your eyes on these boards. The people here will give you the right info.

Hmmm...has there been a noticeable time of day that EE has been open lately? Thanks for the help.

The ride has been open all day for certain groups to try. Last week it was open for cast members. Yesterday, today and tomorrow it is open for DVC and annual pass members. Then it will probably open a few hours a day for the general public without a lot of publicity (soft opening). There will be a big deal made when it officially opens daily for everyone, sometime in April I think.

When Soarin was in soft opening it was hit or miss when the ride would be open. You just have to hope it is open when you walk by.
