Getting ill with the Maguire's!!! Trip report, Day 13 ..DTD & no Party for us!

Me = Claire (33), massive Disney fan, chief planner…(a little on the OCD side ) obsessive shopper, addicted to scrapbooking and very impulsive which doesn’t bode well for our credit cards!

Hubby = Lee (34), not a massive Disney fan but still enjoys it, adrenaline junkie, easy going and the sensible half of our partnership!


Saturday 13th December 2008.

I woke a little before 8am this morning, Lee was still asleep & I thought it best not to wake him as he has had a lot of rough nights. I went on laptop for a while & downloaded all our photos to clear the memory card on the camera then got dressed & popped to the Roaring Forks to get some Hot Chocolate (as you may have guessed by now it was really YUMMY & the refillable mugs worked out to be a bargain! ) when I got back Lee was still asleep so I went on the internet for a while. Then I decided that as he was in such a deep sleep that I would do a little packing as I didn't think it would wake him. I managed to fill our extra two cases with all the purchases I have made & some of the washing, they were all locked & ready to go home when the time comes. I also sent my mum a text to check up on the doggies as I was missing them like crazy. Mum replied saying they were both fine.

Lee eventually woke around 12.30pm & was feeling really poorly but felt a little hungry so we got ready and we caught the bus to Downtown Disney about 2pm. We had a look at the menus outside Fultons, Raglan Road & Portobello Yacht Club & decided on Portobello’s. We went in to see if we could get a table and they said 10 mins so we got a drink at the bar whilst waiting. We were seated within about 10 mins & introduced to our very friendly server named Christina. We didn’t fancy any of the starters, so went straight for the main. Lee opted for Bolognese, Slow cooked beef and pork ragu with spinach tagliatelle & I chose Filet Mignon - Served with wood oven roasted mushrooms, I also had a side of hand cut fries. We both drank coke & opted for the same dessert of White Chocolate Crème Brulee. Lee also had a café latte. Total $95 + tip. It was a lovely meal & we would definitely recommend it.

We then decided to have a little walk up to West Side to have a look in the Virgin Megastore, on the way we passed the Sunglasses shop & as my sunglasses had broken earlier in the holiday that we would have a look, I had been on the lookout for a new pair in the malls but hadn’t found any I liked yet. After trying on pretty much every pair in the shop I found a nice pair of Armani Exchange one’s for $70.

We continued on to the Virgin Megastore & had a little look around but Lee was feeling really poorly & light headed. I told him I didn’t want any arguing & that we were going to go back to the room so he could go to bed – the plan originally was we head back to the hotel chill for a while & get ready to go to Hollywood Studios before 8pm for the Podcast Party. He really didn't want me to miss out & tried to convince me to go on my own as he knew how much I was looking forward to it, not only was it unlimited rides on Toy Story Mania but we were due to have our first DIS meet with Jules & Ian (SaratogaGirl & CrispyWelsh). However I didn’t want to go on my own to a private event like that, I can be a little shy when I don’t know anyone & I just wouldn’t have enjoyed it without Lee.

Anyway we got the bus straight back to the Wilderness Lodge, which was eventful as the driver had to slam on his breaks when a deer ran in front of the bus. It was really big & something I just didn’t expect to see in the wild around that area.

We got back to the room and I sent Jules a text to let her know we wouldn’t be going to the Party. Lee got back in bed & I spent a few hours reading & watching tv. I eventually went to bed about 9.30pm, hoping that we would be able to make it to Mickeys Very Merry Christmas Party tomorrow evening.

I'm sorry for the lack of photos but as you can tell there wasn’t much to take photos of! I promise to make up for it in the rest of my installments.

It's a shame to be even a little bit ill on vacation and it sounds like Lee was more than a little bit. He was very brave to venture out of the room this day and you were very understanding when he had to call it quits. Sorry you missed the Meet but I trust you'll run into Jules and Ian somewhere, some day.

I think this actually was his worse day.

Poor thing...I did feel really guilty as he had caught it from me. It was a horrible bug & I know that if we had been at home it would have wiped us out for about 10 days each but because we were on holiday we forced ourselves to ignore it & carry on as normal as much we possibly could.

So sorry Lee was still feeling rough, it was a terrible bug you caught, at least you let it go, though it probably is journeying up America as we speak.

Glad you managed to have a nice meal and a wander round Downtown Disney. We enjoyed the Earl of Sandwich there and I couldn't get enough of hot chocolate, still addicted to it back home.
