Getting ill with the Maguire's!!! Day 17 .Hollywood Studios!

Me = Claire (33), massive Disney fan, chief planner…(a little on the OCD side ) obsessive shopper, addicted to scrapbooking and very impulsive which doesn’t bode well for our credit cards!

Hubby = Lee (34), not a massive Disney fan but still enjoys it, adrenaline junkie, easy going and the sensible half of our partnership!


17th December 2008

We woke about 8.30am, slightly later than planned but never mind. We walked over to Hollywood Studios arriving about 10am. I was taking lots of photos of the Christmas decorations so Lee rushed off to get a Fast Pass for Toy Story Mania, the return time was 3.50 – 4.50pm already!! (Queue was 90mins).

We headed down Sunset Boulevard towards TOT & RnRC, it was very busy today (I guess the Christmas crowds were beginning to arrive?) and both were about 30+ minute wait so we decided to come back later, we weren’t able to get FP’s as we had just got the TSM one’s.

As we headed back we saw a Streetmosphere act. One of their names (I think) was Melvyn & the other guy was an AAA man. They were absolutely hilarious and we were rolling with laughter! We have only ever seen a couple of these acts before & they have never been that funny but these guys were great a huge crowd had gathered by the end.

After they had finished we walked up Hollywood Boulevard were HSM3 was playing.

We had a 12pm dining reservation at Sci Fi Dine in, we were a bit early but it was cool in the air conditioned restaurant waiting area! It was a very hot day today with perfect blue sky. We were seated at one of the table cars at the back but it didn’t bother us as we have eaten here many times before. Lee ordered the Ribs & I had a cheeseburger, we both had a milkshake it was so thick we ended up eating them with a spoon!

After lunch we went to the Magic of Disney Animation where we saw Bolt & friends. Then we watched Voyage of the Little Mermaid.

We walked through Pixar Place & took lots of pictures of the new area.

It was a 120 minute wait for TSM so we carried on to the Backlot Tour which was a 45 minute wait so we didn’t bother.

It was about 20 minutes before the new Block Party Bash parade which we both wanted to see so we grabbed a drink & found a spot just in front of the Sounds Dangerous building. We both loved it, very upbeat & you can’t help but join in singing & clapping.

This Green Army guy was on the float that stopped right near us for the show & he was SO funny, he was really into it & had me crying with laughter. I love this photo as it reflects how much fun he was having!

After the parade I had a look at the pins under the Sorcerers hat then we headed back to Pixar Place for our ride on Toy Story Mania! We tried to enter the FP line at 3.49pm & the cast member wouldn’t allow us & made us wait for 1 minute until the clock said 3.50pm! We still queued for 15 minutes before getting on the ride but I didn’t mind as it gave me time to get some photos through the queuing area.

We both LOVED this ride & is definitely my favourite!!! It is such great fun, I scored 108,500 with 35% accuracy & Lee got 150,500 with 30% accuracy. It was such a shame that the queue was 110 minutes as if had been less than an hour I think we would have queued for another go – that says how much we loved it as we usually won’t queue more than 20 mins for any ride! I can’t wait to go back on it in September.

There was a 5pm showing of Beauty & the Beast so we decided to make our way over to see that as I really like this show.

The show was just as good as always. I wanted to do some shopping so we went in the shops along Hollywood Boulevard, they had some great window displays.

It was dark by now so we headed over to see the Osborne lights…..WOW!!! They were absolutely incredible & a thousand times better than I was expecting!! It was absolutely packed solid but we took our time soaking it all up. We filmed them, took lots of photos & had some Photopass pics taken.

The dancing lights were amazing & the snow falling over us was just perfect. We had a great time today even though we didn't do lots of rides it was a fantastic day.

After we finished looking at the lights we headed out of the park & caught the boat back to the Yacht Club. Here are a few night time shots we took when we got off the boat…..

It was approx 8pm when we got back to the room and we were both hungry. We decided to get room service as Lee started watching a film on the TV & we were a bit tired. Lee had a shrimp cocktail & filet mignon & I just had a cheese pizza. It was quite nice. After dinner I watched illuminations from the balcony (we had planned to go over to Epcot to watch them but had got too comfy in the room, we would be seeing them tomorrow anyway). We went to sleep about 10.30pm.
