We have reservations at 8:15 on our first morning at WDW
We are staying at POR - what time should we plan on leaving to get there on time - what is the best way to go???

Drive if you have a car. The buses are not super direct. You'll have to take a bus to a hub, such as Downtown Disney or the Magic Kingdom, then transfer to the CR either by bus from DTD or via the monorail or walking from the MK. I found out the hard way that TTC is no longer a hub :( We were trying to get back to POFQ from dinner at thePoly, walked to teh TTC to catch a bus to PO, told that we had to return to MK and board a bus there :(

If it was me going, I would take a bus to the MK, then just walk to the Contemporary Resort. It is a very pleasant 6 - 7 minute walk. I'd be at the bus stop about 50 min. before your ADR.

If you do drive I would allow 45 minutes to get there, park and check in. I have found if you show up early you almost always get seated but if you are late you can end up waiting awhile! Plus the Contemporary is very cool and there is a nice gift shop very close to CM's that you can check out while you wait. If you don't have a car I might consider taking a cab. We did this from All Star Movies to Chef Mickey's last October and I think with tip it was around $15. Way easier (especially that early) than taking a bus to one destination and then walking or busing to get to CR.

We stayed at POR last month and had a 7:40 PS at Chef Mickeys. We were at the bus stop at 7:00-7:15 and the MK bus came soon after. We were asked by the bus driver if we had Character Breakfast ressies and we told him yes, at Chef Mickeys and he dropped us off at Contemporary on the way to MK!! Very convienent!! I would definately give yourself 30-45 min to get there.

I've always heard that there is a special breakfast bus that will take you to the MK & MK resorts for early breakfast times. Check the transportation board.

I dont think there is a specific breakfast bus per se but if you give yourself at least 45 minutes you should be fine. We were at AKL and had early PS for chef mickey's and we got to the MK and then took the monorail.
