Anyone know if the route for my DH to drive from the National Car Rental lot to pick us up from the baggage claim area (!) is well marked? If it is not marked, then anyone know the route well enough to tell us? Just want to be sure he can find us at 10:30 at night!! :thumbsup2 Thanks so much!! :goodvibes

It's well marked, he'd just loop around the airport and find the signs for "Arrivals". That said, I'd just all go to the lot together, it's right across the street.

ITA! Park of the fun of our vacation is all of us picking which car to take together!! :wave2:

We use National at MCO all the time. The garage is right across the street and it's very easy to walk there after getting the luggage. I would have everyone come across with you.....my kids have so much fun trying to pick out which car to take off the Aisle!

If you have to checkin at the rental car desk at level one I'd have the driver checkin while the others get the luggage. I agree with the previous posters, it's easier for everyone to just go to the garage together.

It is marked well. Just follow signs to Arrival. Keep bearing left. We do this all the time. I take one child with me and hubby goes with the other to get the bags. Sometimes he's already waiting for me. ;) Sometimes I'm waiting for them...but only by a few minutes. ;)

Keep in mind that this isn't going to work if both want to be able to drive the car. Otherwise it's a good time saver.

I'm not sure if it'll still work but before I used the "quick rent" cards I made sure my wife or I had both drivers licenses. They didn't have to see the other person, just needed to type the license number in the computer.

Since September 11th, most of the rental companies want both renters to present themselves.

I agree with one of you going to the rental counter while the other picks up the luggage just to split the kids.

We found when our kids were younger, if there were boring tasks to be done (like waiting for luggage, checking in, getting the car from the long term parking lot at the airport, waiting in counter service lines, etc.,) that each of us would split up and each take a kid.

There is more "togetherness" during vacation and during boring tasks, if that togetherness can be split up, the poking and the picking is kept to a minimum :teeth:

Going together works well unless you have to spend the lovely hour or so waiting on MCO to bring your luggage up to the baggage area, then it's just as quick to have one person get the car and the rest get the bags.

Also, unless you get a ticket no one at the rental agency knows who is driving the car and our personal insurance covers us on all cars we drive.

my thinking exactly!! :thumbsup2 I figured DH would take our DS7 and I'd take DS4 and we'd all be happy!! ...plus hopefully it'll save a few minutes...esp. at 10:30 at night, we'll all be ready just to get there!!

glad to hear it is well marked...thanks to all! :goodvibes

If you do this just make sure you both have your cell phones on and they are charged. You wouldn't be the first wife waiting on side A for a husband trying to pick her up on side B....And I speak from first hand experience here.

We always go to the car together now!!!

Good Luck

:rotfl2: I know exactly what you mean! I've been to MCO 10 times now and I still get confused as to whether I'm on side A or B!

oh--wow!! I didn't remember that aobut the airport!! Thanks for the GREAT advice!! :goodvibes

speaking of which....any ideas if SAouthwest baggage is on side A or B? Thanks!

One of the ways we keep our luggage to a minimum (we used to just take carry-ons but, I've loosed up a bit LOL) is my rule that everyone is responsible for their own bags. Of course this only works if your kids are old enough to schlep their own stuff...but it does cut down on packing.

We usually do get a cart but, sometimes not if we don't have too many bags. Then we all make the trek over to the garage together. I've stopped using the rental counters @ MCO last year when we waited over an hour @ Alamo.

Highlight for my DS's is picking out the sportiest vehicle on the aisle in the garage knowing that Mom & Dad will probably be moaning about it the rest of the week;) .

Even with cell phones in hand, it's pretty easy to turned around/lost @ MCO.
