Getting from MCO to RPR?

Hi folks, we are considering booking a couple of nights at RPR for our first trip to Universal in Feb. How can we get from the airport to the resort? I checked Mears and for a one-way shuttle for 2 adults and 2 kids it was $70! Waay more than I want to pay. Barring public transport, is there a better way?

(I did a quick check of Hertz for pick up at the airport and drop off the same day at the hotel, and it was virtually the same price, but I hadn't finalized it, so there may have been more fees. Maybe I could do better if I looked for Hertz codes.)

I actually just cancelled my Hertz reservation....I was planning the same thing. We wanted to pick up a hertz car and drive to downtown disney and then back to the RPR for our stay of 4 nights dropping the car off at the hotel. I have found out that Hertz is off-site at the airport and you have to take a shuttle....there are mixed reviews online about this plus alot of people are saying they get charged extra to drop it off at a second destination!! I have decided to get a car rental at RPR once we get there for the day.....and drop it off that night....just as a means to get to downtown disney for a while with the kids seeing as our flight arrives soooo early (9am)
I think we will just grab a cab at the airport....mears taxi estimator shows 35.00 for a cab from MCO to RPR. Then we'll do the same for the return.....sure beats the 116.00 for a shared ride!!

I don't think the taxi estimators have been updated in a while. It will cost you $100 return. Then add a tip.

Really 100 plus tip....I might as well prebook/prepay for mears.
.....hmmmm.... I wonder how most people get to the universal hotels....I wish they had some sort of shuttle like the magical express!!

There aren't enough people to warrant a bus. The the room prices would go up and you'd probably have to wait at the airport for a long time for it to fill up. People either use a cab, town car or rental car.
