Getting FP with tickets that were not used to enter the park?

Can I use my families tickets to get FP's for everyone if they have not yet used the tickets to enter the park? We will be using 1 day off our 5 day hoppers in Disneyland the day we arrive. The next day we will be attending the Halloween Party. On Friday morning I planned on letting the rest of my family sleep in after a late night at the Halloween Party but I am always up early anyways. Can I take everyone's tickets to California Adventure and get FP's for RSR? We had not planned on visiting CA the first day so our hoppers will not have been used to enter CA yet. I'm not sure how the DLR tickets system works-so thanks for all the help!

No.

If the tickets aren't active in that park that day, they will not be valid to use in the FP Machines. Sorry!

As the pp stated, your tickets must be activated at one of the parks before they can be used for FPs. So if you were taking unactivated tickets to DCA to get FPs for RSR, then the plan won't work. However, just for future info, you can use tickets that have been activated in one park to get FPs in the other park. So if your family were at DL, you would be able to run to DCA for FPs since the parks' systems aren't linked.

So-by active you mean used that day already for entry into either park? We will be initially activating at Disneyland two days prior. It has been a long time since we used FP at WDW and I just want to make sure I understand the system correctly!

Like others are explaining...a ticket can only be used to get a FP if someone entered DL or DCA that same day and had the ticket scanned (activated) at the turnstile. So you cannot get a FP in DCA for people that are sleeping in...but you could grab one if they were already in DL that morning.

I concur with the previous answers. As an aside, the much maligned but in some ways advantageous FP+ at WDW does allow you to get FPs for those who have not entered a park that day.

Given that you're reserving them 60* days before you step foot in a park, of course.

But...you have to figure out what you want to ride 60 days before you step foot in a park.

*onsite guests.
30 days out for offsite guests.
for those who don't know.

The ticket has to be used to access the park otherwise the FP machines will not accept them

Well sure, if you were up at midnight 2 months ago.

Actually you can do this the day of your visit. I did it at midnight the night before in one case. Had FP+ reservations for kids to go with DW and I to MK. They decided to go to DHS instead. I got decent FP+ reservations for them.

It does depend on time of year you visit and demand on FP+ and in my case crowds were moderate. But it does not require 60 days to get all FP+.

Well yes anything is possible. But since the OP wants RSR for a certain time period, I'm stickin' with midnight 60/30 days out (if DCA had FP+.) Constant checking of the MDE app may also get results ahead of time. Day of would be luck, great luck, but still luck.
