Getting fit & losing weight before our next 2015 Disney trip!

Way to go, everybody! It's so exciting to me to see your progress - so many different approaches and such great results!

Week 1 Update for me:

Leslie
May 13, 2015 - Goal is to lose 35 lbs for health and to feel better during the long hot days in the parks!
I've been using my LoseIt app for calorie tracking. Probably will add in exercise next week.
As of this morning, I've lost 4.5 lbs - so about 12.86% of this goal. Hooray!

Best of luck to everyone this next week. Think MICKEY!!

Congrats, Leslie! That's awesome!

I like how you think. :goodvibes Mickey, here we come! :earsgirl:

I haven't been updating my stats because I'm so frustrated with my body! It seemed like no matter how often I was working out and counting calories the scale was just not moving or it moved the wrong direction. So about 3 weeks in a started measuring instead of weighing. I stuck with my same exercise plan but stopped counting my calories for the most part. I know what I should and shouldn't be eating. I got so caught up in the calories that I wasn't looking at what was in the food. And low and behold Ive lost 4 inches in my hips, 2 in my waist, 1 in my arms, and 2 in my thighs! So this week I decided to brave the scale-and in down 10 pounds!

So I am 10/40=.25

Woohoo! Congrats to you!!! :thumbsup2

I'm on my last day of the 21-day detox!!! I have never been so excited to eat eggs, LOL, starting tomorrow. I have to reintroduce foods every 3 days to see if I have any reactions to them. I'm hoping not!

Week 2 Update! Color me AQUA!! :flower1:

Leslie
May 13, 2015 - Goal is to lose 35 lbs for health and to feel better during the long hot days in the parks! (58 Days to Go!)
I've been using my LoseIt app for calorie tracking. No exercise this week - concentrating on tamping down the appetite and eating smaller portions first.
As of this morning, I've lost 8.9 lbs - so about 25.43% of this goal. Hooray!

It has been so wonderful to read everyone's good news. Keep it up, gang! I've got 3 dinner events coming up this week. Traditionally, I tend to blow it at plated dinners. Wish me luck that I don't feel the need to eat the quarter of a cake they will inevitably serve me. Ugh. :scared:

Congrats on the loss, Leslie! Good luck at the dinner events - I know that feeling, I'll be traveling for work 4 days this week, and 2 of those days I'll be stuck in a casino hotel in Atlantic City for a conference. I need to stay strong and make healthy food choices at the restaurants, and still get in my workouts on the road!

Checking in... I'm Amanda. My goal is to lose 65 pounds by September 27, 2015. After I set that goal, I gained 2 pounds, but then I lost 8 pounds the past 3 weeks. But then this past weekend, I messed up - I had some drinks with friends on Saturday, then I made some poor food choices yesterday (but still worked out). So this morning, I had gained 2 pounds. So my total loss is only 4 pounds. I threw away the cookies I bought yesterday, and I'm determined this week to make good food choices and stick to my workouts daily!

I am glad that you are headed in the right direction, Amanda. You have a great attitude, and congratulations on throwing away the cookies.

I am in no way qualified to give you advice, but I also like to share a bottle of wine with the hubby over the weekend or go for drinks with friends. You really just have to work the calories into your daily allowance, and although you might retain water the next day.. the weight will definitely come off. Don't let the scale fool you because of water weight. If you want to get a little buzzy in Atlantic City (which I sure would) - consider deciding ahead of time how many drinks you'll have and how many calories they contain, and plan your meals accordingly. A good choice for me is a vodka/soda for instance. Many less calories than a vodka cranberry or even a vodka tonic. Daiquiris would be a no-no. (but you can even manage a daiquiri if you really cut back on your other meals). I am NOT advocating drinking on an empty stomach, though. LOL! Point being is don't deny yourself. Plan it, and do it with no guilt. That way you won't just throw in the towel.

We can get through this week together!

I don't mean to go on and on, but I hope it maybe helps you even a tiny tiny bit. You can do this - keep posting!!

Thanks for the advice! I do enjoy a vodka/soda. But I found that my body doesn't process alcohol well - I felt so shaky on Sunday, and my sinuses bothered me, probably from the red wine I had. So bottom line is that right now, alcohol isn't worth me feeling that crappy, especially since I'll be at a work conference and will have to sit through many sessions and then network with colleagues all day long. My goals are to move when I can (that sitting can become very tedious), and to stay hydrated with water.

I won't get discouraged. I did the next level tonight of the Jillian Michaels Body Revolution, and I struggled a lot! But I know I'll improve, just like I improved with the moves from the first two weeks. I also just signed up for a 6-month DietBet which will end right before my 40th birthday! When (not if) I win the DietBet, I'm putting that money toward my WDW trip! :thumbsup2

Well, here I am. It is 12:36AM & I'm sitting around waiting for my FP+ window to open. It figures this is one of the 1AM window opening days. :sad2:

So the good news with me is that I am off BP meds! The bad news is I haven't lost a pound in 2 weeks. I've stayed stagnant yet AGAIN. I'm just finishing up on T25 week 3. I have to say I don't like the Beta level as much as the Alpha level. I'm hoping the Gamma level is better. Beta seems to be all about speed. Sure, I notice I'm not nearly as out of breath as I used to be, but I spend more time trying to keep up with the transitions between movements every few seconds rather than concentrating on a muscle group like I did in Alpha. This program ends for me at the end of April. DH & I have already begun talking about which program to get next. I think immediately following this will be 21 Day Fix Extreme. Seems similar to T25, but uses a bunch of weights. I'm thinking I need more weight training in my workouts, since I'm doing just a ton of cardio. Who knows.

Congrats on being off the BP meds, that's fantastic! I bet you're right about needing more weight training, since muscle burns more calories, so it helps metabolism. Still, you're doing awesome! Try not to get discouraged - I know, easier said than done.

Off-topic slightly, but how do you know if your FP+ window opens up at 1:00 AM as opposed to the usual time (which is 6:00 AM, I believe)?

I've been reintroducing foods since my detox - no reactions, other than overeating some of my favorite foods the last few days! I think I do better to avoid my trigger foods entirely (popcorn, chocolate, anything baked like bread or cookies). My workout yesterday went fairly well. I'm looking forward to a session today with my myofascial release therapist, my upper legs especially feel very tight! I'll weigh in tomorrow, I was weighing in just about every day - bad for my mind, so I'm back to weighing in every Monday.

Have a terrific Sunday, everyone!

Hi there. While I was waiting at midnight for the FP window to open & refreshing constantly, I started looking around here on the forums. I stumbled upon this thread & it seems if your FP window date falls on a day immediately following a day with EMH, then you can expect your window to be at 1AM instead of 12AM. That certainly held true for me.

That's really interesting!

Were you able to get all the FP reservations you wanted?

I did get just about all of the FP I was looking for. The only problems I had were not being able to book any FP before 9:40am on the 24hr day, really not sure why. I also had a few days when the group of 4 we are going with would be split on the rides we wanted to do. So I quickly found out that you MUST select all 3 FP you want when trying to book them. If you don't then the computer selects others for you & when you go to update your FP selections, it wipes out any you previously had. Tiering was a pain in the butt, especially at a park like HS where there isn't much choice. I also didn't like that I couldn't select the time I was looking for. It only gave me 4 time scenarios to choose from. I then had to go back in after I booked them to update them & look at what other times were available that I could choose from. Overall it was fine once I got the hang of it, but it definitely could be improved upon.

Very interesting! It was easy for me to select my FP+ reservations when I went on my solo trip last November, but now I'm planning a trip for up to 12 people this September - not sure how I will make all those FP+ reservations! I can make ADRs starting tomorrow, woo hoo!

I hit the 10-pound weight loss mark yesterday, but somehow I gained 2 pounds in one day, so it's 8 pounds lost today. I completed Week 4 of the Jillian Michaels Body Revolution, only I pulled a muscle in my right calf, so I'm massaging it and working on myofascial release for it. I'm hoping it heals quickly!

Hope everyone is doing well!

Good morning,

It's been a long time but I am happy to report that, even though the scale is not exactly following the curve I'd like... My curves are definitively going to be where I want them to be for our trip to Disney in April! I kept my twice a week exercise program and keep a watch on my portions while still indulging when it is worth it!

Technically: 152 pounds (starting was 158 and goal 148).

Thank you for participating in this thread, it helps.

I encourage all of you to find your true balance and the sense of peace and satisfaction that comes with it.

Enjoy the journey,
Flav

Checking in again. I'm on my final days of T25 Beta, moving to Gamma next week for the last 4 week push. I have been feeling very deflated during Beta as it has been about 4 weeks & no weight loss. Not really sure what happened a few days ago, I'm doing nothing different except for I didn't go to the gym this week :o. Somehow I dropped 2 more pounds so that makes me at 31lbs loss out of my goal of 40lbs. Happy but annoyed at the same time because the losses just don't seem to be tied to anything & when I'm really trying hard there's no loss. At any rate, I'll take it & I get to change my icon today to 75%. Really hoping I can make it all the way before we go & I can fit in the shorts that have been my inspiration this whole time. :)

You can do it, Cynister! You have made so much progress - 31 pounds is very impressive! Congrats! :cheer2:

I am feeling good, I've lost 11 pounds now! I entered two DietBets - the first one is a 4-week DietBet and ends on Tuesday. I have 4 days to lose 1.4 pounds, and I am very determined to do it! I even skipped the cake and the donuts that my coworkers brought in today. The second DietBet is 6 months and ends just before my September birthday trip to WDW. The first round for that one ends in 14 days, and I have to lose 3.2 pounds by then. I think that's very doable, considering I've lost 4.6 pounds these first 14 days. And I've lost 9.2 pounds in 24 days on the first DietBet. My clothes are starting to fit a bit differently, and people are starting to comment that my face looks thinner - I'll take it, and hopefully everything else will start to look thinner soon as well! I always lose first in my face. :-)

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!

Great job, Dreamseeker! That's great progress! I looked at DietBet recently. Shaun T from T25 posted about one. I've never done one before & I was hesitant to do it since I just don't seem to be able to predict when I'll lose based on my activity or diet. Let me know how it works for you!

Hi everyone! So excited to find this thread as I need some motivation to get in shape before our October trip! I am in a very bad habit of gaining during the winter months then losing during the spring/summer but this year I've put on more than I would like and haven't even started with trying to lose it!
So my name is Tammy and I want to lose 30 lbs with a stretch goal of 40 lbs. I will drink more water and walk/exercise 4x a week.
Thanks for letting me join along and so happy to see how well everyone else is doing.
