Hey guys! I'm getting ready to meet with someone from my college to talk about getting credit for Disney. Briefly the person mentioned if I used my major then I could use it for credit. Example...I'm an English major...if I write for Disney or do something along those lines I could get credit. My school is new at giving credit out though...so I was wondering how everyone else got credit. Did you have to do something that pertained to your major?

Most of the "major" related roles are professional internships. The CP roles would be more geared towards costumer service, which is the best way to try to get credit. Most focus on working at a large company, examining leaderships (through managers), and working in a fast paced environment. I am actually a technical writer for my internships, but did no writing when I was on the CP.

I'm a Hospitality Management major and I am getting credit just for doing it and writing a few papers about it.

I just had my meeting with my adviser today. Trust me, it's been a whole lotta running around. I am going to be getting 12 credits of fieldwork experience (apparently my school was feeling generous) for doing the Engineering Professional Development Studies because I want to be an Imagineer or an EnginEAR. Unfortunately, these credits will only be general elective credits and my major (Engineering Physics, emphasis Mechanical Engineering) is apparently one of the few that doesn't require a single general elective credit.

So, long story short, the credits I'm getting don't contribute to my major at ALL. BUTTTTT.... I'm gonna see if I can squeeze some Honors credits out of them so I can be done worrying about Honors credits! Whee! :goodvibes

ETA: What I have to do to get the honors credits is submit a 3-page proposal of what I expect to get from the program, keep a weekly journal, and write a 6-page paper when I get back about what I learned. My physics credit is much easier, I have to write 2 1-pagers. =]

for me it's a little more involved. I have to write an honors thesis, 10 pages per credit. I need at least 9 credits in order to still graduate on time when I return, so I'll be writing a 90 page honors thesis on my experience at Disney, and how it relates to my major.

Well
I had to get a professor to sponsor an 'independent study'
I somehow figure dout a way to get my internship to figure in with Economics
I still have yet to talk to said professor (he's currently in UK with the G20) but I have A BUNCH of work to do and I have to get this giant project done delving into the economics of Disney ie. innovation, comparative advantage, what Eisner did it's soooo much work but, got to stay a fulltime student!

My school did not offer credit for the program. Many students go through other schools such as Univ. of N. Carolina or Central Michigan. Those schools have a program set up for students who dont go there to get credit for the program anyways. I think they both offer 12 credits and the workload is super easy. I think I had to interview two cast members, take one class down there, write an 8 page paper on the experience, and get a performance review from a manager. It was basically stuff I would have done anyways so it wasn't a bother. Unfortunately I could not get them to count towards my major but they are elective credits that count towards graduation.
