Getting Correct Information, VWL

We would like to have a cook out/birthday celebration next month at VWL, and I just called WL to check on somethings. I am questioning whether what I was told is true. I was told there are no charcoal grills or picnic tables there, but they do have them at FW.

Unless they ripped out the grill, there was one down by the beach/marina area last time we were there. I don't think there are any picnic tables, though. There has always been some adirondack type chairs there...but we've not been there for a couple of years now so I don't want to provide bad info.

I remember the grill between the quiet pool and gym.

I thought there was a grill, too. It probably would be better to eat inside the villa anyway. I suppose we will just have to make the final decision when we get there. When I read about the people cooking out at SSR, I thought that would be a great way to celebrate DS's birthday. He prefers "my" hambergers to anything he can get out, or at least that's what he tells me, Great Son!!

Hmmmm.....how would Disney feel about bringing (or buying) your own "Smokey Joe" down to the beach, I wonder? Along with some charcoal and lighter fluid....depending on how many you're cooking for...you could pretty much get everything you need from the local Super WalMart.

But Disney may frown, for insurance purposes, on that solution.

I agree, though. I do remember a grill set up down by the beach area, I think. I certainly remember seeing one somewhere around that area back in January.

I haven't stayed at VWL for 2 years, but when I was there in 04, there were a few grills right around the place where you rent boats and bikes. There were picnic tables too! The tables were looking kind of worn, so they may have been removed, but it seems as though there were several grills in the sand around the boat/bike rental building. If know one here knows for sure, maybe you could contact WL, ask to be transferred to the rental place and ask them.
