I know this has been asked again and again, but I need help! DH and I are getting close to finally buying in. We are pretty sure we want to do a resale at BCV because if we couldn't stay there as our first choice we'd be a little disappointed. So, in looking at the Points Charts it would cost us 214pts to stay in a 1BR for a week. If we want to go for 1 week a year we need to buy in for 214 points right? I know some buy less and some more, what's the advantage?

Thanks!

Since you are buying resale, there are no incentives such as 160 bonus for 225 purchase. There is no advantage to buying more other than the ability to go more often than you thought you would. More points means more expense. Buy what you need to do what you expect.
One of the things to look at is how many usable points the contract has. If you were to buy, for instance, a 175pt contract with 175pts banked, you could satisfy your 214pt requirement for 4 years while paying dues on 175pts a year. After 4 years, you can then add on like many do :rolleyes1 .

You could also buy BCV points from Disney directly, subject to availability, but you'd have to purchase at least the minimum of 160.

Resale market, I doubt you will find a 214 point contract but possibly can find one for 220 -- if you are looking at 214 as minimum per year you need then buying a few extra is obviously better than getting less.

Also, know that you are not required to stay an entire week. If you knock off the Friday or Saturday night, that (almost a) week at BCV (Choice season) only costs you 167 points. Many will stay elsewhere the first or last night.

I would look at the most expensive point time and get enough to stay a full week. Then you will have enough to play around with. Banking and Borrowing. Knocking off weekends and then popping down twice in non busy times. But If you want to go for a full week at Christmas you can.
