Getting AP for DVC

I hope to be a new DVC member by the end of July. Just sent to ROFR.

I have a couple of extended trips planned over the next 12 months and am getting an AP.

The process as I understand it for a non-DVC member is to:
1) Buy discounted ticket that is non-promotional
2) Use the ticket at least once to make it a full price ticket
3) Go to ticket services and upgrade to an AP and pay the difference

Is this process any different for a DVC member now that I can get the DVC discount?

No different. But I get a bigger discount buying Disney GC then putting them into a DVA and buying the DVC AP online.

You're right! I just did the math and I get an additional $25 savings.

Yes, I have personally purchased 7 APs. 4 last Feb and 3 others 2 months ago. I've done this over the phone as well as online.
