Getting a good spot for Wishes - how far in advance?

We are going to be at MK on May 17 and would like to be able to get a decent spot for Wishes. There is no Spectro that night, so I'm hoping the crowds won't be too heavy. Anyway, how early should we try to get a spot to watch the fireworks? Wishes is at 8:45 that night. Thanks in advance for your help!

We were there 2 weeks ago on a Fri. The fireworks were at 7:00. We bought hot dogs and sat at a table by the fence at Casey's around 5:45 and stayed there for the fireworks. It was a good view without anything blocking our view. One of us also bought ice cream from the parlor for dessert and we sat and ate that during that time also. The park was not crowded that day and probably will not be on May 17th either.

Honestly, I wouldn't worry about staking out a spot! We were shopping and popped out on Main Street in time to catch them (our dh's had taken the 2yo's back to the room! ), and they were spectacular! Even standing in the middle of Main Street, surrounded by people, it was pure magic! Enjoy it whereever you are!

Same thing happened to Tanya & I this last week. We caught the monorail over to MK and managed to get in like 4-5 min. before wishes. We just walked to the middle of main street and found a good spot standing there. plently of elbow room & the like. It was our first time watching wishes & it was spectacular! I loved when they made the genie's face out of fireworks!

I'm so glad to hear this. I was worried that we'd have to find a spot way ahead of time like you sometimes need to do for parades. We are having dinner at Chef Mickey's at 6:10 that night, so we'll probably get back to the MK by 8:00. Wishes is at 8:45, so we can either ride a ride or get the kids into their pj's before Wishes starts. Thanks for all of the replies!
