I just wanted to pass along a tip that we used last year to save a lot of space. We were getting a grocery delivery from Gardengrocer.com (which I highly recommend) and we ordered enough diapers for the week so we didn't have to pack them. You can do this whether ordering or stopping at the store. You can also get any specific foods you might need for your child. Their prices were a little higher than we would pay here, but well worth the cost.

I'm the opposite. I liked packing the diapers, because then there was more room on the way home for souveigners. But we didn't buy anything from the grocer either,so I can't justify paying higher for just diapers. We also packed our own snacks. When I'm on vacation, there is NO cooking done by me! LOL ;)

Too funny....we are so alike. I do NOT cook at all either. Gardengrocer brought diapers, juice & milk, snacks, and a few things for dd who was 2.5 and a fussy eater (waffles, cream of wheat, microwave mac/cheese. As for souvenirs, I am the queen of shopping. I have a huge tote bag that folds inside itself to be a flat square. I pack that and fill it with my treasures for the way home.
