Get the ins and outs of booking a Disneyland vacation . . .

When we used to go to Disneyland regularly from Seattle, we always flew into SNA. There was a direct flight and it was such an easy airport. We'd arrange for Super Shuttle and it was an easy peasy ride - not too expensive either!

There was one funny thing about that airport that a pilot once told us as we sat on the tarmac waiting to take off. He said that the takeoff was really steep and they turn down the engines at about 10,000 feet because of a noise ordinance in that county. I didn't notice it as much during takeoff as I did during the landing because the descent was quick and quiet too!

Ha!! Do NOT plan on traffic being light in LA ....my wife and I have driven into/through LA maybe a half dozen times. We've gone weekdays, weekends, mornings, afternoons, and nights. If someone out there has a hint ...PLEASE let us know! We have never gotten through without issues -what's amazing is we're talking 6 lanes of traffic.

That's crazy. So, in your opinion, John Wayne is easier to get to and from Disneyland?

I was confused by 1 thing. They said a major difference is park tickets don't have to be length of stay at DL but they do have to on WDW packages. Is that with TAs only? I've booked several WDW packages where my ticket wasn't a length of stay.

John Wayne/Orange County is easier/closer than LAX. On this map I show Disneyland, John Wayne, LAX, Long Beach, and Burbank airports - look for the airplane icons. Although John Wayne (SNA) is closer, it may also be more expensive and/or only offer flights with connections. Many people choose LAX because of the money savings and more flight options.

I've only flown out of LAX, though I've picked up people from Long Beach and SNA (one time picked up people from LAX, then SNA, then Long Beach... and then took them to Disneyland ... lol). To ME, LAX isn't bad, but then I think I'm used to the hustle/bustle there.

I think you have to weigh all factors and decide whether or not it's worth it to fly in to SNA, Long Beach, or LAX.

btw, For DL Podcast reference... Nancy lives near the Burbank Airport (upper left, near the 134 fwy, by the 5 on the map), Tony would live closer to the Long Beach Airport, and I live near LAX, if you can see Carson, where the 405, 91, and 110 all meet. I think Long Beach Airport & LAX are almost equidistant from where I live, but we've always used LAX.

Thanks so much. The podcast gave me a lot of options and was super informative. I don't mind paying more and skipping the hustle and bustle of LAX as I am actually grumpy and impatient. While I was reading, I read that there are a few rides closed in January due to the Christmas decorations coming down, so I am going to push my trip back to the end of February. I found a pretty good deal from FLL to SNA with only a short stop in Houston both ways. I just plan on catching a taxi or Uber from the airport to the Disneyland Hotel and walking everywhere. Again, thank you all so much. I am sure I will have more questions in the future.
