OK I have seen a lot of threads about people being scammed when they trade. I have a suggeston for VMK. Here it goes...

When you make a purchase at a store there, you get a couple of pop ups right? One for an ok? and one telling you what you have bought right?

Well how hard would it be to put a pop up box after you hit accept on a trade telling each person exactly what the other person has actually kept up there? Then you have a chance to cancel the trade before they get away with your stuff!!! IMHO this seems very simple.

Anyone agree? :confused3

Yeah, that's a great idea! I have never got scammed but one time I got pretty close... One of my friends asked if he could "borrow" one of my magic pins. I chose not to, but I think he might be mad at me lol. Well anyway, that would prevent scamming but if somebody wasn't paying attention scamming still could happen. But hey, I think too much. :teeth: Good idea!

Most excellent of ideas!!

I dont trade for fear of scammers!

Actually, I recently sent a "contact us" note with that very suggestion due to the frequency of scammers. I thought a dialog popup "are you sure?" would be a fail-safe to prevent scams. My other thought was having a program change where either player would be prevented from removing items once either player checks off "accept".

I'd love to see either method, because I feel really sorry for the people who get scammed.

Now the hard part is getting this idea to somebody on the VMK staff...
anybody seen yavn lately?
Wait... how do we explain this in dictionary terms? :confused3

or how about the idea of a pop up saying something like:

someone has not put anything in the trade are you sure you want to carry on?

and i can tell yavn as he is on my friends list but how to explain...

hmmmmmmm

Great idea, Churro. I also sent them a suggestion with a similar suggestion.

Marypops, that doesn't work because the people who are good at scamming don't do it that way. They put up SO MANY ITEMS, that the "good ones" scroll of the screen, so that when they remove it, the victim does not see that they are removed, because all the garbage items they also added on are still on screen.

Thanks everyone but I am sure others have thought of this...but please send in your ideas maybe they will get the hint and do something. Otherwise people might just stop trading. You can use the contact me link in the home page. Let's keep our fingers crossed! :shamrock:

There should be something for when signatures are not very safe i have seen some bad things and i do like that trade idea only one problem what if people are cheating? aka doing that to give stuff to other person and the person they were giving it to kept it then they report for stealing stuff and bam there goes a way people cheat!

lol, I just had someone try to scam me. He said he had inferno, and asked for my offer. I put in all my stuff I wanted to offer and he said that he would accept that offer. I waited for him to put in inferno, but instead he said, accept and I will give you inferno. At this point I knew he was scamming me. I told him I wouldnt' accept without him putting up inferno in the box, took my things out and said bye.

Then I warned others in the room, without saying his name or anything, to never accept a trade unless the item they are wanting is in the trade box. He exited the room.
