Get Off The Ship - we are running out of towel animals! Update 10/25 Day 31

What a great evening! I absolutely MUST book that fireworks cruise at some point - it is such a great idea!

Fireworks cruise looks awesome.....definitely want to try that some day.

Of course the cruise looks spectacular! I'd love to be able to do that one day. The donuts look like a little piece of heaven too. :goodvibes

Wow, just read about your compensation from the airline - very nice!
He cruise looked like lots of fun :)

We were stunned ourselves at the speed we received it as well. All the reports about those claims said that they had to wait at least 50 - 60 days and it only took two weeks for ours to go through! :thumbsup2

This was the second time we have done a fireworks cruise and and both times it was just so magical and fun. Needless to say we filled the boat with friends both times. :goodvibes

do i need to say im wishing for an overbooked plane again in May ???
I would so love to start booking next trip :goodvibes
and as for the doughnut issue next time i go into NYC you might see a picture or 2 ?? :goodvibes

I am keeping my fingers crossed for you again, Jeff! ;) No one would mind another day at Disney, would they?

Don't tell me there is a KK in NYC - would move that city up on my list A LOT. :rotfl2: (Just kidding ...... it moved up a lot already, but it's the friends living there that made it move up.)

Yahoo for your reimbursement going through. That is just awesome and I know you won't let it go to waste!!!!

I have been looking at fireworks cruises for years and we just haven't had time to fit it in yet. One of these days we will do it!!!

Thank you, Jen!
I could not believe that they agreed to it and that they did it that soon. It will all go to Mickey's pocket again. :rotfl2:

Jen, those fireworks cruises are just awesome! You really need to try them. It is so peaceful out there on the lake and they pipe in the music while you watch the fireworks. :cloud9:

A wishes cruise :thumbsup2 What a wonderful ending to the evening :woohoo: I am starting to repeat myself...but I LOVE the pics :goodvibes

It was the perfect thing to do at the start of our vacation. Got us in such a great vacation mood.
We loved the cruise and the company. Nothing better than sharing such an experience with friends. :goodvibes

Great pix of the kids with Beast and the Cruise !!I had thought we were doing that this year but it was not to be !! Oh well we are still going to Disney!!

It was so much fun to watch the kids interact with the Beast. :thumbsup2 And we all loved the cruise. Such a wonderful experience.
Did you want to do the cruise as part of your birthday trip? I am sure you can still reserve a boat - or is it a time problem?

Oh a Wishes cruise....doesn't get any more magical than that....oh wait, throw in some Dis friends and there ya go!!! Sounds like a wonderful time was had by all!

You are right - those Wishes cruises are just awesome. This was our second one and we loved both of them - especially as we shared the boat with great friends both times. :thumbsup2

Fun times playing golf.
Love the Peoplemover.
Your dinners looked so good at BOG.
Nice compensation.
Nice pics from the cruise. That is one of the most magical experiences anyone can have there. Pricey but worth every penny.

It was fun to play mini golf again. Especially since we had the kids with us and they were very competetive.
You said it perfectly right - the fireworks cruises are the most magical experiences. And if you share it with priceless friends, than money does not count. ;)

Karin, what a fun update. Love the pictures of the kids with the Beast.

And what a fun way to wrap up an evening...a Wishes cruise with Disney friends.

Great pictures of Wishes.

It was really nice having dinner and then visiting with the Beast! And as much as I hated the thought of having to wait for him to return, it was great to have the room all to ourselves for a while.

The cruise was a wonderful start to our vacation. It got us all in the right mood! We all had so much fun. Nothing better than sharing laughs with friends.

It was the perfect evening! So much fun.
You really need to book one of these cruises one time. Willow would LOVE it. :goodvibes

Fireworks cruise looks awesome.....definitely want to try that some day.

It took us some time to try those cruises, especially since it is always just the two of us travelling and they do have a price tag. ;)
But then when we found out that other friends would be there as well it was the perfect opportunity to try them and we really fell in love with it.
Now we need to try an Illuminations one as well. :rotfl2:

Of course the cruise looks spectacular! I'd love to be able to do that one day. The donuts look like a little piece of heaven too. :goodvibes

The cruise was so much fun. Seeing all the resorts from the water and hearing a little of the backstory is just so fun.
The fireworks are just awesome from the water and having the music makes it even more magical.

Oh, and we love our doughnuts! We do have wonderful desserts here, but nothing says America like those little fried pieces of heaven. :rotfl2:

The Wishes cruise just looks so amazing. It must be great to see the ELP and the amazing fireworks from the water. I would SO love to do a cruise one of these trips. It looks fabulous.

Those donuts - OMG - YUM!

What a great evening. I can see where the time change might finally catch up with you! ;)

It was as magical the second time around as the first time we did it in February. And for this summer it was the perfect start to our summer vacation.
If you get the chance to do it, go for it. It is one of the best ways to spend your money.

We just love Krispy Kreme and even though they were not hot when we got them, they were just wonderful.

Funny you should say that about time change - it's usually around the second or third day that I notice that I am tired at "odd" times of the day. :rotfl2: But there is a nice excuse - blame it on the heat ;) and allow yourself a nap - that's my policy! :lmao:

I think you're totally right! And it would be a great solution to our constant and horrible inability to manage to see fireworks. :scared:

I've been reading along on my phone but haven't had time to post!

Your dinner at BOG looked like a ton of fun and what a special cruise. I would like to do the Wishes one someday, I absolutely adored the Illuminations version. Very busy start to your trip though, I would think all that right away and the time change would catch up.

Can't think of a better fix than a caramel donut and sleep :goodvibes

Just checking in !!Can't believe I will be in Disney in 8 days !!!!

:woohoo: for being at Disney in just a few days! You are one lucky lady getting to go there so often!

No problem, Cynthia! You have been so busy all the time - I admire you to find the time to follow along in the first place.

Dinner at BoG was really nice and the fireworks cruise was just wonderful. We have done Wishes twice now and it was out of this world both times. Now to fit in an Illuminations one. :lmao: Especially since you are recommending it. ;)

Time change DID catch up with us, but funnily enough I felt it the most the first few days on the ship. Guess it had to do with the fact that we had time to relax there. :lmao:

Day 3, August 9

More firsts ………. - Part 1

We slept in a little and finally got ready to head out for breakfast.
Jeff and his family had asked us to join them for breakfast at the Waffle House. We arrived there, signed in and were told to wait outside, which we did.
It was fun hearing how they all had enjoyed the day before and so had we. A little later we were taken to our table. We all had to squeeze in tight. There were four adults and two kids in a four top booth. As he had done the day before, Jeff, who was sitting at the head of the table attracted a lot of attention with his haircut.
We then ordered our drinks and breakfast and soon after the first items were served. Tom and I both had chosen a waffle, I think Tom’s was plain and mine came with strawberries. The server had to run back a few times as he kept forgetting to bring out stuff, but there was nothing that would dampen our spirits, we were having so much fun together.
Once breakfast was consumed and the bill was paid we all drove over to Downtown Disney to do a little window shopping. First we headed to the Once Upon a Toy store.

The kids got really excited as there were so many fun things to shop for.
This is when we learned that Jeff and his family were only doing some window shopping as they had a Cast Member friend, who they would meet lateron in their trip and she would help with a nice discount. But that didn’t stop us from heading over to the Pin store, where we spent quite a bit of time. We all had fun looking at the pins and having the kids pose with the Disney statues up front.

Then we made our way over to the World of Disney, where at least Tom and I picked up a few souvenirs.

Again, we spent quite some time inside the shop and once we got outside it was time to hand Molly and Philip their new ears.
They had been wanting some, but were determined to wait to look at the ones in the Magic Kingdom, but Tom and I could not wait that long, so we got them some. They proudly sported their new ears when we walked back over to the cars to drive to the other side of the parking lot.
And with all the construction going on, Tom and I got kind of stuck and were lucky to have Jeff take the lead. We followed him over to the Movie Theatre, took a bit of a stroll and then we did something we had not done in the US before and I had not done in a long time here either.
We went to the movies. Jeff invited us all to see Monsters University. Since we were a little late after taking bathroom breaks, the cinema was already pitch black when we entered, but we were able to find nice seats towards the front of the cinema. Jeff had stayed behind to pick up some drinks and popcorn and returned with the largest bucket of popcorn I have ever seen and a HUGE container of Coke for Tom and I to share.
It was fun watching a movie and sitting there sipping Coke. But all too soon the movie was over and it was time for us to leave the cinema. When we got to the parking lot the grey clouds had started to roll in again and we all decided to take a break and head back to our resorts. And I promised to try and change our dinner ADR for two at the Wave to an ADR for six.
We got back to Old Key West just in time for the rain to start. Once upstairs we made ourselves comfortable, had some salad out of the fridge and some tortilla chips while I tried to change our reservation. It took me several tries, but in the end I was able to change it. But it was a much later time, so I gave Jeff a message that we would meet later and he did not mind. I started packing again, as we were leaving for our cruises the next day and there was the chore to put everything we would not need on the cruise to be put into our Owner’s Locker and things from our purple box went into our suitcases. We also “unpuzzled” our suitcases, as we had travelled with a carryon inside a large Samsonite bag and that was then inside an even larger Samsonite bag. Now we had 4 pieces of luggage and two carryons. Carryons were full of drinks, and the rest was filled with the rest of our stuff.
About an hour before we were to head out again the rain had stopped and we got ready to go out for dinner again. And half an hour before our ADR we got into our car and went over to the Contemporary. Once we had parked our car we headed to the lobby and found Jeff, Lily and the kids already waiting for us. We headed over to The Wave, signed in and were told that we were in for a short wait and would we please take a seat in the lounge.

To be continued ............

Fun update, Karin. Nothing better than going to DTD and window shopping or doing real shopping. How sweet of you to buy the kids some "ears."

I can't believe you've never seen a movie on all of your visits to the US. One of these days Mark and I want to try the theater at DTD.

We actually didn't "do" much that day, but it was so much fun anyway to spend time with our friends. And we just couldn't leave without buying something for the kids. They were so excited about the ears, we had to get them some. :goodvibes

We so often thought about watching a movie while in the US, but we never got around to really going through with it. So, this was a nice treat. :thumbsup2

Loved all the Hat pix Karin !!! Sounds like a fun last day before the cruise !!!

It was such a fun day, Rosie. And even though we didn't make it to a park we were busy all day. ;) :lmao:

Hi Karin! I'm finally caught up. You had so much DISmeet time with Jeff and fam and with Michelle and fam too! How nice to see you having so much fun with your "imaginary" friends. :rotfl2: The mini golf looks like it was a hit with everyone. Looks like a great way to catch up while you do something fun together.

Looks like a really nice dinner at BOG:thumbsup2 I'm glad you all enjoyed it. And also the pixiedust: for your VIP FP is awesome!

Lily, thanks for sharing your pics! It is fun to see Tom and Karin from the "other side of the camera" and the great pics of your kids!

The fireworks cruise was such a great way to spend time with special friends!

Looking forward to your cruise!:sail:

That sounded like a great day! Dont you find the movies have a little more magic when you see them at Disney...:goodvibes
