George Town Grand Cayman

I was wondering if some of the cruise line veterans could tell me a little more about the port at Grand Cayman. I know its a tender port but once you get to shore are any of the beaches in walking distance? We are planning on doing the submarine excursion in the morning so we will have some extra time in the afternoon to sight see. I was hoping for maybe a little beach time but there are 8 of us and I dont want to have to get a taxi or bus. So what is all within walking distance? We have 4 kids ranging from 6 to 12.

The south end of 7 Mile Beach is abou5 miles north of the main tender landing.
