george the ghost on pirates of the caribbean

I have a funny George story that I've posted before but here goes...
It was my DS9's birthday and we were in line for PotC. We were about to get on when DS asked the CM if he had remembered to say "Good morning" to George. The CM asked another CM if she had said it because he couldn't remember. The other CM said she wasn't there at opening. Then the 1st CM noticed my DS's birthday button and said as we were getting on the boat, "Its your birthday? Hope it isn't your last." We are riding along and I kind of quietly call out "George, George" and my DS fusses at me to stop. Anyway the rest of the ride was uneventful until we get to the end. We are riding up the conveyor belt to get us to the exit and we stop. The people in the boat in front of us are able to climb to the front of their boat and walk out of the exit. They push the boats behind us back somewhere where we can't see them. But we are on the conveyer belt and stuck. I look over at my DS and he starts crying hysterically. Me, being the concerned and compassionate mother that I am, start cracking up laughing. DD6 was laughing then she started crying. I kept telling them there was no George.
After about 20 minutes, the CMs bring out a portable bridge for us to be able to exit. And who do you think was the CM that helped us? That is right. I said, "Aren't you the one who said you hoped it wasn't his last birthday?" He said shocked, "I was kidding!" The whole thing was so funny. But we got to see the back side of PotC and got so see where the floats were stored for the parade. And we got two sets of front of the line passes since it was DS's birthday. And DS wouldn't get back on that ride until they refurbished it!

I hope George doesn't stop me from seeing my Capt. Jack! I have been stuck in the auction scene before. Heard "We wants the redhead!" about 50 times. My sister has red hair and after a while being stuck my Dad said "Here (pointing at my sister) take her and let us go!" It was funny!:lmao:

this is all quite humorous...i will make it my mission to convince the entire boat to scream for george.

I don't care if these stories have any basis in reality or not. They're beyond fun to talk about. Does anyone know any more like that?

this thread is too funny, it DID happen to my son and I 5 years ago. I'm sure it was a coincidence but our boat stopped right before the exit with no boat in front of us. This was after my son said George's name 3x outloud. The boat was stopped for only about 30 seconds but enough to shut my kid up until we exited the ride. Maybe TAPS should investigate!!;)

LOL...that has me cracking up! That so sounds like something my father would say about my redheaded sister too:lmao:

I know the CM monitor the boats and such. I wonder if they see/hear you say that if they try and do something? Just a guess especially right at the end like that you know there is a camera somewhere.

Who the heck is Geroge?

also, rides stop alot and appear stuck usually due to people in wheelchairs (or older visitors) needing more time to get in and out

I was wondering that too but I doubt they would risk a possible accident happening resulting in some sort of lawsuit. I can't really think of what it would be but you know some people these days, get a sock wet they'd sue for a few grand.

George was supposedly a man who was working on building the ride and fell to his death in the fire scene. They say he haunts the ride and that if the CMs don't tell him good morning and good night daily that the ride breaks down.

Not to burst anyone's George bubble, but don't the rides stop all the time? I know when I was there last time they had to stop the ride because some little kid was having a conniption. Then again, maybe he had heard about George ;)

I actually saw George last year. I was on the ride last year. The ride was not crowded at all. We got right on.

As I entered the car, I said in a low voice, that I didn't believe George the Ghost existed. My wife already knew about it and laughed when I said it.

As the ride strated I felt a very cold chill, but different then anything I ever felt. It seemed like it was coming from within me. I shruged it off.

The ride did stop and I laughed and told me wife that George must have done it. Right after I said that I saw a man, sitting right in front of me in the car. He turned smiled and simply disappeared. No one saw him but me, but I know what I saw. It was unreal. I'm getting chills just thinking about it.

I wish I can find a picture of George to see if it was the same man I have seen.

I heard about this and told my friend, so the next time we did a morning run to WDW we of course had to try it. I heard that if you say "I don't believe in you, George," he gets ticked and will take revenge. We said it right before the waterfall, and at the bottom we got smacked by another boat HARD! I have never gotten hit there, just at the end when the boats back up, and it was a real smack. The two of us just looked at each other in shock and said, "We do believe! We do!" George left us alone for the rest of the ride.

Have to say...whether you believe in George or not, this thread is a fun one.. :thumbsup2

I'm wondering about this too. So many "coincidences".

But this ride actually breaks down a lot. There have been a lot of reports of people having to exit on foot mid-ride.

Spooky! :scared1:

Sorry to bump an old thread, but I had to post an update to my earlier George story. The friend who I was with in my earlier post went to MK recently with two of her kids. She told them about George and our earlier experience, so of course they had to try it. They did, and Pirates didn't break down so they mocked the George story. Bad move! After that, literally EVERY other ride they rode that day broke down! That'll teach 'em to anger the ghost of George.

It's been long rumored that th CM's have to say goodnight to George at the end of business. Or the ride starts to experience multiple problems throughout the following day.

Similarly, the nodding goats carry the fate of IASW. And this-is true!

But you can't call out to them and make the ride break down. This is our responsibility. If we don't wave to them very morning the ride will break down at some point that day.

AND I HAVE SEEN IT HAPPEN!:scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

How's THAT for scary!

And IMHO I believe The ghost of Toad is the reason we have so many problems with the Many Adventures of Winnie-the-Pooh... They made a mistake keeping him in the Hm cemetary that's for sure! Too close for comfort.

George is a fake. On my last trip this past August I mocked George repeatedly and the ride never broke down. However, I did have fun by spooking my 13 year old daughter and pulling her pony tail and blaming it on George. It scared the heck out of her. I finally told her it was me, but it was still fun.
