Need more convincing that Republicans and Democrats are more polarized than ever?
A Redford man has a paper on it -- two separate papers, actually.
James Wilson, a 31-year-old Web entrepreneur, is selling toilet paper decorated with the smiling face of either President George W. Bush or Sen. John Kerry.
"It's not meant in a disrespectful way to either candidate," insists Wilson, whose site, Toiletpolitics.com, has been up since late January. "It's just a fun way to bring a few laughs into the political debate."
So far, Wilson has moved about a thousand units of the paper, which sells for $9.95 a roll, plus $3 for shipping.
At the moment, Bush is outselling Kerry by 70 percent.
Wilson got the idea after studying political novelty gifts, a market that's spawned items like the talking Bush action figure and the Bill Clinton growing nose wristwatch.
"My wife thought the idea was crazy at first," he says. "She finally caved in and said, 'You're on to something."'
One more thing. The tissue isn't intended for personal hygiene use, because the ink runs.
As they say in politics, it could lead to a smear campaign.
