Today is the end of our 5 days at Disneyland. This week was listed as an 8/10 on touring plans and the parks definitely had a crowd. Here are my experiences with Genie+ and ILL.
We purchased Genie+ everyday and used the ILL everyday on Web Slingers for $12pp and twice on Radiator Springs for $12pp. We were a family of 4 (with a son who is a Spider-Man super fan) age 10 and daughter age 7.
The cost per day was about $122pp (tickets, park hopper, genie+ and 7 ILL purchases)
As we are from the east coast we were in line at opening everyday at 0730hrs and usually were back and done in the hotel by 3-4pm each day.
We roped dropped all the non-genie plus rides first thing in the parks (while everyone else headed to the headliners) and started using LL and ILL about 0900hrs onwards. Despite the crowds we pretty much never waited more than 10-15 minutes a ride with many being less than 10. We rode every headline attraction (except Rise) at least twice and many of the more popular rides 3 or 4 times. We had times for meals, breaks, snacks and to just simply soak up the Disney atmosphere. We used the tip board to decide what to do next and grabbed a LL whenever one was available for what we wanted to do. We never felt stressed or overcrowded the entire week and most importantly we avoided major meltdowns with the kids.
On another note we had a couple of dining reservations for the week but mostly mobile ordered lunch and snacks about 30-60 minutes before we we wanted to get them. This too was a time saver and greatly reduced the stress of an crowded park.
I know a lot of people are upset with the fact that Disney is charging for something that used to be free, but when you get over that and use the service to your advantage you will have a more enjoyable trip than those you pass by standing in the walk-up line wearing the infinity gauntlet holding a coke they just spent $27 on complaining about how unfair Genie+ and LL are.
