Hello!

We’re considering a race next year at WDW during one of the race weekends. Generally speaking, how quickly do DVC rooms book up at the 11-month mark for various properties over those weekends? Toying with a split stay but worried a day or two delay on our desired property will affect those plans.
Thanks!

Depends on your home resort and room size. Many DVC studios go quickly at 11 months for marathon and half-marathon - BCV and BWV ae prime examples.

As you discuss a split stay, I'm assuming perhaps you're renting? 7 month availability for marathon is bad.

I booked a trip around the 2024 springtime surprise and was pleasantly surprised with 7 month availability. The only studios I was looking at were at PVB but both types were available right at the 7 month mark, and all options were available for 1 bedrooms except for BCV and BLT SV (both of which became available a few days later after the walkers passed by).

I would expect Springtime Surprise to be the easiest.

Marathon and Princess Half are the hard ones.

Marathon week availability tightens up very quickly after 11 months. I’ve had to add one day two years in a row. It took constant stalking. Both times ended up with a1 bdrm at SSR.

Was looking more at Boardwalk over Wine and Dine. I have a feeling those tend to book up right at the 11-month mark

I booked springtime surprise on 8/17/23 AKV standard for four nights starting 04/18/23

Even tho it was one of my home resorts, for some reason I waited to book. If doing any of the other races, will be sure to book ASAP to not get shut out.

last i looked there was nothing available for studios that time period

OP I’d consider booking a placeholder room thru CRO

I am kind of unclear on the original question. You are considering a "race next year at WDW during one of the race weekends." For three of those races in 2024, marathon weekend in Jan, Princess half marathon weekend in Feb, and Springtime Surprise weekend in April, we are well beyond the 7-month reservation window and thus getting anything will likely be difficult.

If you mean the Wine & Dine race weekend, which next year is Oct 31 to Nov 3, then be aware that race weekend is in the high to extemely high DVC demand "fall" season which runs from late Sep to marathon weekend in Jan, and the Wine & Dine race weekend is one the highest DVC demand times of the year (the same would apply to the Jan race weekend). If you are considering reserving at 11-months out and then switching part at 7-months out, then finding anything, even at SSR, could be difficult at 7-months out for that weekend.

If you mean making two 11-month reservations for a split stay, you can find openings, except the following disappeared very fast right at 11-months out for the Nov 2023 Wine & Dine race weekend: (a) BWV: all rooms except pool/garden view 1BRs (but part of the cause is that all boardwalk view rooms were closed for much of Nov; usually it is only the standard and boardwalk view rooms (including GVs) that disappear that quick, although even pool/garden view can go fairly quickly after 11-months out); (b) BLT standard studios and 2BRs (including dedicated 2BRs); (c) VGF Deluxe Studios and 2BRs, and the GVs, (but not the Resort Studios); (d) Riviera tower studios, and standard studios and 2BRs (d) CCV both shower and tub studios and 2BRs; (e) AKV value and club level rooms, all sizes; and (f) the OKW GVs in the near Hospitality House booking category.

If for any of the other three races, you actually mean year 2025, then you can assume the Jan race weekend will have problems similar to the Wine & Dine race weekend.

The Princess half-marathon weekend is actually the highest demand time that exists between mid-Jan and late Sep, and although lighter than Nov and Jan, getting anything at 7-months out could be difficult, although possibilities might exist for Kidani savanna view rooms, SSR, and OKW. At 11-months out from the Feb race, rooms will remain open for some time longer than for the Wine and Dine race weekend, except the following will likely disappear very quickly at 11-months out: BWV standard view studios and 2BRs, AKV value and club level studios and 2BRs, BLT standard studios and 2BRs, and Riviera Tower studios.

The Springtime Surprise weekend is still in its early years of development and its usual demand is still being developed but will probably remain lower than the Princess half-marathon weekend. It is higher than other times in April, although April outside of Easter week and that fairly new race weekend, is among the lower DVC room demand times of the year. Likely , the same rooms as the Princess weekend will disappear quickly air 11-months, except possibly Riviera Tower studios, and more appears to be available at 7-months including Poly.

I think when they said next year, they meant the 2024-2025 runDisney season.

I agree with what's been posted above about availability being hard to come by. I would plan on booking right at the 11 month mark. Unless you're looking for a highly coveted room, you should be ok booking it as a split stay.
For reference, I'm looking at booking a 2 bed at BWV for wine and dine next year, and when I looked today, it looks like both standard and boardwalk view rooms are being walked.

Yeah, that is an 11-month required. The 1BR lasta a bit longer but studios run quick, and every studio takes a 2BR out of booking as well because there are no dedicated 2BRs.
