Apologize in a advance for the stupid questions--

Can someone explain the difference between Gel and Acrylic nails?

We are going on a cruise over Christmas I would like to have my nails done they are normally short because the break or split.

Do you have to make appts to get these done or can you walk in to a recommended salon?

I know I am not going to be of too much help but I think gel nails look more realstic than acrylic. I have only done them a few times but they seemed to stay nicer for a longer period of time.I also keep my nails really short even when I get them done for a special ocassion because i dont like to have claws and I think they look very nice and real.

I don't want really long nails either-- just past the fingertips.

How difficult/damaging is it ti have the gels removed?

I've had both and couldn't tell that much difference in appearance, only in price...the gels were about $20 more to put on initially and $10 more for fill ins. I have acrylics now, and I keep them pretty short and use a natural polish and I honestly can't tell the difference.

You should be able to walk-in to most nail salons, but may need an appointment if you go to a nail technician in a salon.

Have fun on your cruise!
