Gel ice packs? Ice at resort?

I am recovering from ankle injury and my Dr told me I need to ice it frequently (along with a steroid and mega motrin). Would a gel ice pack freeze in the resort freezer (AoA suite) or will I be able to get ice from a resort (ice machine or pop machine). Thanks!

There are Ice machines. I would suggest packing several ziplock bags. Not sure if the suites have freezers though.

I believe AoA family suites have a beverage cooler, not a fridge/freezer. Bring ziploc bags and get ice from the ice machine for your injury.

When I was at Pop in May, I had a gel ice pack in the fridge there, but it never got frozen. I don't think there's an actual freezer in them. Instead, I used the bag from the ice bucket in my hotel room, filled it up in the ice machine and tied it off with a hair elastic. It was very effective! Hope this info helps and that you have an enjoyable trip!

When I had to ice a shoulder injury at Disney I brought a refillable ice bag with me and made a room near the ice machine my only requesr. I confirmed with the front desk before going to my room if my request had been met (thankfully it was). I bought the bag off Amazon, they’re cheap. Drugstores might carry them too.

You could also do instant ice packs. They’re a bit bulky and weighty so you wouldn’t want to fly with them but they’re easy enough to have delivered (we added them to a Walmart order once at WDW). They get cold pretty quick and are one time use. No need to freeze or chill them.

Depending on how icing works for you I give the edge to instant ice packs. The shape of those wouldn’t work for my shoulder so it wasn’t an option for me but I got annoyed at going to the ice machine a couple times a day.

I brought a refillable ice bag with me on one of my Disney trips. It was disposable and lightweight. I knew that gel packs and ice packs wouldn't get cold enough in the beverage coolers in the rooms. But the ice bag worked great.

When I traveled with an injury, I brought a bunch of instant cold packs (drove so didn't have to worry about weight or space in luggage) and they were very easy and worked super well. Definitely appreciated I didn't have to go in search of the ice machine at the end of a long day and I could ice "on demand" ... even in the parks or at the pool.

I would take a couple of gel packs and check with Bell Services to see if they can freeze them for you. They accept the deliveries from stores so they probably have freezers. I would also take the ziploc bags as a backup plan! :)
