Geesh,I mailed out my Federal Tax Return....

And forgot to enclose my W-2's!! Duh.I mailed it out the end of January and went online last night to check on it's progress and it said 'Delayed' and to call the IRS...So I went and got my papers out just to find I never sent the W-2 forms with my tax return.It's not like I'm new to doing my own taxes.Oh brother.I know what threw me off was the NY State Tax now has a seperate form you fill out the info for your W-2's.You no longer send them with your NY State tax papers...Now my question is does anybody know what will have to be done when I call them? Will I have to mail them seperately? Will they return my tax return papers to me and have me attatch them? Or will they let me (I hope) FAX them over??

I don't think I've ever done that. I have, however, forgotten to include DD's SSN and it delayed a huge portion of our refund until I provided it. I would think it's more common of a mistake than you think. They will probaby have you mail it separately.

I have forgotten before and nothing was said of it. Now I just do it electronically and never send them in and I am not bothered by them either.

Thank you both for replying...I just spoke with the lady at the IRS and she said 'delayed' just meant they had not started processing my return yet.And she also said they probably won't need my W-2's to process (again 'phew') but if they do need them I'll receive a letter requesting I send them.
I'm so glad to know they can process my return without them.Boy I won't make that mistake again.I had quite a few extra things to include in my taxes this year so that might have threw me off a little too...
