Geen Yight - She's Out of Sight: A Trip of Leaps and Bounds

How awful to hear that a member of the Dis family was lost in the storms. Such terrible devastation, my heart goes out to everyone effected.

Math Fair today, so no time to DIS. I will catch up tonight. I did want to check in long enough to ask you all to keep in thought and prayer the family of a DISer who was lost in last night's storms in Joplin, Missouri. Her name was MinnieLor (Lorie), and though I did not know her personally, I had seen many of her posts on lots of different threads in past years. Maroo, who some of you know, said that Lorie's sister came onto Facebook and said the Lorie and her husband, Glenn, were killed in last night's activities. This weighs so heavy on my heart this morning, since Jill just went through something that could have yielded equally tragic results. Maybe I am just now letting myself cry over what happened in Alabama, or maybe the loss of any DISer feels somewhat like family, or maybe a mix of both. If you are of the praying persuasion, keep that town and especially that DIS family close in prayer today.

I have to go redo my make-up, what little I wear, and load my car with fun and games. It is raining here, so I am hoping it stops before I am ready to unload at school or I will be a soaking wet mess. :upsidedow I think, though, that any little inconvenience that comes my way today, I will be able to handle with a little more gratitude after learning of this loss this morning.

Have a wonderful day, friends! You guys truly do mean so much to us, and we should let you know that more often. We very much consider you all blessings in our lives. :)

Oh no... this just makes my heart sad. :( This family will definitely be in my prayers.

I am so devastated and sad over this loss. I have already said a prayer for the people in Missouri, but I will say another one for their family through this horrible time. It really does bring back feelings from the tornados that went through Alabama and eventually through Tennessee. That was one of the scariest nights of my life. I remember being so scared for Jill and the girls. It makes me want to tear up now. Make sure you hug them closer next time you see them. It is amazing how a tragedy can happen so quick.

On a lighter note, way to go Brooklyn!!!

I hope everyone in our Dis family stays safe and healthy! You all bring so much joy to my life.

Have a great day!

I'm so sad to read about the loss of MinnieLor and her husband. Losing a fellow Dis'er just really hits home, doesn't it? :(

Trent has connections to a guy in Texas who could get him a prarie dog?!:lmao: Oh dear! You're lucky Brooklyn hasn't wound up with a little illegal meerkat!:rotfl2: I wouldn't imagine they would make good pets! I too was thinking of some kind of Timon doll! That's great that she scored twice!

That is so sad about the Dis-family that was lost to the storms....it's so awful. There is just so much devastation...:sad1:My thoughts and prayers will be with everyone who has been affected.

Hold on sunny_stace I didn't agree to ride it yet...but we could meet up to get Mickey bars anyway.

No Mickey bars until you get on that ride young lady!;):rotfl: I'm gonna peer pressure you until you go on it! I'm always up for meeting for Mickey Bars! :)

Then the old lady and her loved ones.

TravisvisitMothersDay2011024.jpg

Hi I'm working on catching up with you, but I don't want to miss anything. Anyway, I know this is from Mother's Day, but I love this picture of you and your family and just wanted you to know that. :)

MeMom...praying for all of the people that have been lost or lost family members in the natural disasters lately. Tornados, flooding, earthquakes and loss of homes and jobs. It sure does make my own problems seem small.

Good for Brooklynn for scoring and teaching Trent a lesson. :rotfl:

Also, little Bella looks like a little doll. Glad she is feeling better.

I have tried every way I can to figure out a way to the Atlanta meet. But, it's just a little to far. Maybe I'll make a Nashville meet sometime. Better yet I'd love to make a Disney ride meet. Just have to get the timing and money right.:)

My cousins will be at Pop at the same time as your family. It's their first time at Pop. They usually stay at one of the All Stars, but they were full. I told them Pop is my favorite value and they will love it. I wanted to try and get there for a few days also, but the breadwinner said the "beach" so thats that!:confused3

Have a wonderful week!

So sorry to hear about Minnielor and her husband. Even though I did not "know" her, being on the Dis makes her family and I am so sad to hear this. :sad2:

The Local Red Cross Chapter is waiting to be dispatched to Missouri. They have been bsy this season and I hope for everyone hurricane season is a slow one.

My prayers go out to the entire family as well as everyone down in Missouri!! We followed things about that storm at work, and we had a hard time today!!

Side note: Way to go Brooklynn!!! Have fun with that meerkat!!!;)

So sad to hear about Minnielor and her family. My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone who has gone through this horrible tragedy

Too funny about the promise of the meerkat. I would have loved to see Jill's face when Trent promised her a meerkat and she scored!

I should have gotten a picture. ;)

That picture made me . Houses, trees you kind of expect, but a sturdy Piggly wiggly... You would think a big supermarket building would be safer.

On the bright side, the economy can use the shot in the arm but too bad it was because of this tragedy.

There were a lot, lot, lot of trees uprooted.

Congrats to Brooklyn on her soccer goals! I think a meerkat is a pretty cool prize, but I agree that its better to stay at the zoo. That way it won't get lonely

Those were some pretty scary tornado pictures! It reminds me of the aftermath of hurricane Ivan, which hit while I was living in Pensacola Florida. The power of mother nature is awe-inspiring and terrifying at the same time.

It is, indeed. We don't think much about being a statistic of some weather-related thing, yet so many have become that in the past few weeks. It is very sad.

Glad they are illegal... I guess he will have to learn to promise Dairy Queen or Rita's! (That's what we bribe our girls with to get them to win...)

a stuffed one sounds like a good compromise!

Sorry about the mess that so many are still having to clean up. It must be bittersweet to drive by it. Thankful being safe and sad for the others.

Brooklynn would have been satisfied with a popsicle. This is a good lesson for Trent.

LOL hope Trent is able to find a suitable meerkat for Brooklynn, it will be exciting to see what she names him/her!! Congrats to her for scoring a goal, that is awesome!!

What a busy week you have ahead of you!! I finally got all my grades done and now I have 8 answer keys to make for finals and I'm heading down the home stretch. We will try not to think about the fact I haven't even thought about packing yet, I still have a week so that's plenty of time....right???

What pictures from the storm!! WOW!!

You get to pack soon!!! :cool1:

I'm glad it's a stuffed meerkat The real one can stay at the zoo & Brooklyn can visit him there.

I might be making the NYE trip now. I think my birthday plans are falling through so if I don't do that in February, I should be able to swing a NYE trip. In looking at prices, I think I'd come in the 30th & stay a few days into the new year. I'll keep y'all posted.

There's plenty of room on the Poly beach. Dave said they will be there, so bring a blanket or cheap plastic tablecloth ;) and come on down.

Amen and Amen and Amen, sister!
MeMom or Jill, maybe someone had better spell it out for Trent: Don't promise a child what you cannot deliver! I think he now owes Jill, too, for saving the day with those low-maintenance -- and legal -- alternatives.

My heart just sank to see that Piggly Wiggly and the roofs off of so many homes. I'm glad recovery is starting, though. And I'm really glad I didn't see your AL pictures until tonight's tornado watch here expired. I was already a little extra-anxious bcz now my baby girl's room is up on the fourth floor here in our new house. We're down to just rain now, so -- no, wait, there's another clap of thunder. Looks like I'll be up another while yet, glued to the weather.

Happy to hear that Hunter is better. So hard on such a tiny body, and tough on first-time parents.

Yippeeeee for six weeks!!!

In the last picture I saw of Hunter, he looked pretty good. I think it was the video of him in the bouncy seat, maybe.

Storms do bring out the nervousness in me after some of the ones we've had lately.

So sad to see the devastation from the tornadoes.

Hurray for Brooklyn scoring goals, but I was cracking up over the other team's name -- the White Swans! Glad it is just a stuffed meerkat coming to live at Jill's house. Although, can you just imagine having a real one running around, and then it standing up when the doorbell rang or something?

At least the Swans had a name! Brooklynn's team changed names almost every game. They were the Dolphins, the Butterflies, the Dolphins again, and I can't remember what else. :rotfl:

My cat would go nuts if a meerkat found its way into this house. Ben (Jill's dog) would probably love having it as a playmate. :goodvibes

So sorry to hear that a long time DISer and her husband died in the storm. I did not know her and don't think we crossed paths on the boards but it still hits "close to home."
-------

On a MUCH lighter note, Trent "knows a guy" who can get a prairie dog? Good thing everyone is now agreed on a plush!

I think he's going to have to go the ebay route. I didn't see anything great on Disneyshopping.

...brought tears to my eyes too. How very sad for her family & the friends she had here on the DIS.
I will say a prayer for her family.

I hold all of my DIS friends very dear to my heart and I am very thankful we are all safe. I would hate to loose any of you!

Way TO Go Brooklynn!!! Great Job!!!

It never occured to me that Trent meant a real meercat....
I hope you find the plush one for her.
Timon would be a perfect choice!

Good luck today with the math fair!

We have a holiday today so I'm super happy about that!
I have to pop into work for a couple hours but the rest of the day is all mine!

I think I'm going to make cupcakes with crowns on them in honor of the Queen's bday!

I thought of you yesterday when I was out doing my errands..... I had a "poutine" and said to myself...Memom just
doesn't know what she is missing...yumm.
They even had new varieties with Texas style pulled pork or brisket.
I didn't try them but someday I will get adventurous and go for it.

6 weeks...very excitting for you!
Wig'd I'm relieved that Hunter's getting better! Poor little guy.

We feel the same way about our DIS buddies. You guys are very special to us.

I'll say it again on the poutine - gross, gross, gross!

I will definitely be keeping that family in my prayers! What a devastating loss. It does put a lot into perspective doesn't it! It's all so sad!!!!

_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

MeMom have a good day at school! I hope things clear up for you and you can have a great day of fun with the kids!!!!

It definitely puts things into perspective. We really have very little to complain about today.

The day did clear up. The two classes that came into the Math Fair today loved it!

Such sad news. Will definitely keep her family in my prayers. The devastation is just horrible down there.

Yay for Brooklyns soccer goals! I am sure she was sooo excited.

Trent is being such a great uncle! I am sure Brooklyn will love that meerkat.

Hope you have a good day at school and your Piggy Bank Adventure goes well.

Trent is a good uncle. He loves those little girls so much.

We had a great time. Two more classes come in tomorrow for two one hour sessions, and then my class and my co-teacher's class finally get to play and not supervise on Wednesday.

I didn't hear about the weather last night, how sad! What a terrible thing for a family to loose 2 members at the same time - they must be devastated!! It certainly makes you want to hold your loved ones close, you never know when they might be gone

So very true. We should choose our words and actions carefully every day.

I'm just seeing pictures of the devastation in MO. Oh my GOODNESS! Those poor people! I pray for those who have lost loved ones and for our fellow DISers. Just so tragic.

On a lighter note, I'm with a pp in the fact that Trent has a "connection" with someone who could hook him up with a REAL prairie dog!!! He better watch what he promises Brooklyn. She seems like she's gonna go for whatever he promises her!!

Trent knows people everywhere. If he wanted a meerkat, he could probably get one. :upsidedow

Such devastating news. The DISers family will be in my thoughts.

Way to go Brooklynn on scoring TWO goals!!!

I think there will be a GKTW contribution in their names, too.

How awful to hear that a member of the Dis family was lost in the storms. Such terrible devastation, my heart goes out to everyone effected.

So many are in need and will be for a long time to come.

Oh no... this just makes my heart sad. This family will definitely be in my prayers.

Yeah, I think this has made a lot of DIS folks cry today. :sad1:

Very true - our DIS friends are awesome!

By the way, I went to a doctor today!
Surprised? ;)
I had a spot taken off of my shoulder for a biopsy.

You are too kind. :)

Maybe we'll run into them. :) I hope your beach trip is a blast! I wish you could come to Atlanta, but Memphis is going to happen one of these days. :thumbsup2

I love looking at pictures of my sweetest girls.

Yes, it is hard to swallow, even for those of us who didn't know them personally.

The headlines tell a very sad story, I'm afraid. The numbers are not just numbers, but people - with families, friends, pets, homes, jobs and plans for next week and next month and next year. Now all of that has changed. I think it said on the Podcast Board that they had just come back Saturday from a 15th anniversary trip to AKV. I am hoping the last days before Sunday were some of the happiest ones they ever had.

So very sad. You're right, we know they are people, but we have a tendency to push it out of our mind. But when it's someone we know or who we have a connection to, however slim, it makes it even more real. God, please be with all of them.

Wow, the pictures near Jill's house are just frightening and sad to look at. So much devestation :sad2:

How horrible to hear about the DISer and her husband who lost their lives in Missouri...that family is in my prayers

I hope today went well for you and everything runs smoothly through the end of your school year!

True. Even though I had never met her or her husband, I know that we hung out here on the DIS boards and had that special feeling for Disney World in common. Maybe we walked right beside each other on trips and never knew it. I watched the reporter who kind of broke down as he was talking about what he was seeing. It's hard to grasp. I also watched the man who pulled the little puppy out of the rubble, and it just made my eyes well up with tears. Poor little guy had no idea what was going on in his world.

I'm holding my own on the paperwork. The Math Fair was fun. Picnic tomorrow. Awards Day Thursday. Field Day Friday. :)

Among all of our fun things, I have to keep pushing back the weight of all the tragedy that has happened lately. A high school in Joplin (maybe Joplin High School - not sure) had graduation Saturday night, and the building was destroyed Sunday night. It's hard to get thoughts like that out of your mind.

In Pirates.

Time to eat!

We still couldn't get used to getting a dessert with every meal.

That's it for this morning. Have a Terrific Tuesday, everyone! :cheer2:

So very, very sad about the DISer! :( It is so tragic! :sad1:

Do you know we have never eaten at Cosmic Ray's? We always seem to end up at Pecos Bill's when we are at the MK.

Sure looks like Miss Bella was tuckered out! That scene with the dog holding the key to the jail cell may be my favorite. I just saw on this past trip they sell a plush of that dog but unfortunately it is very realistic and he looks pretty mangy.

I've never eaten there either. Looks like they have some different choices such as a burger with guacamole.

I saw somewhere that there is an unofficial plan to honor that DISer with a toast before Illuminations one evening. I'll try to remember to do that virtually. :goodvibes

Cute pic of Bella sleeping in POTC. A wonderful place to take a nap...it's dark and cool. ;)

The dog with the keys makes me smile everytime. :)

Cosmic Rays is a fun place to eat with lots to choose from!

Sonny Eclipse is very entertaining too.

:goodvibes...for your biopsy to go well. I'm proud of you for going to the doctor.

I love when babies sleep all slumped over. :) So cute!!

I can't believe our trips are so close!! I was thinking this AM that I need to start making my "dont forget" lists. :)

The Podcast Board is going to put up a link to a Give Kids the World contribution in her name.

Cosmic Ray's has good rotisserie chicken. :thumbsup2

We don't spend loads of time in the Pirates shop. They do seem to have lots of fun toys that I bet little boys get into - like swords and guns and such. I'll have to pay attention to the dog next time.

I saw that, too. I hope they'll be smiling and joining in from up above. ;)

One spot was 'frozen' off, but he was more concerned about the one on the shoulder. He sliced it off (gross ) and sent it to the lab. I'm sure it's nothing, but it'll be nice to have that word officially. :goodvibes

The section with Sonny Eclipse is a more hopping place. The area over in the back is quieter. It just depends on whether we are in a hopping mood or if we'd just like it more calm. Sometimes, it's just wherever we can get a seat!

I get finished with school on June 7th. I am pretty much free to do what I want between then and June 27th when I help with day camp. June will be my hanging out month, and July will be my on the go month.
