Geen Yight - She's Out of Sight: A Trip of Leaps and Bounds

Me again! This is probably more than anyone cares to know about giraffes, but I just googled and found that the giraffe that came from Norfolk and went to AK was a Masai giraffe. It said it was joining a herd of 7 Masai giraffes there. But I am sure that when you are on the safari they say reticulated giraffes....so are there other giraffes that aren't on display? I wonder if the Masai giraffes are at AK Lodge? Does anyone care about my now neurotic musings on giraffes?:rotfl2:

Port Orleans does have more variety than Saratoga but not as much as Pop. That is one of my high points about Pop is there food court has lots of different choices.

We love SSR too, but we've never had dinner at AP, since there are so many other great restaurants with amazing offerings. We love the variety at Pop, too. Altho DD & I could practically live on the tie-dye cheesecake alone! At Port Orleans - French Quarter, I couldn't get enough of the beignets. And such a lovely stroll from Riverside, maybe just about enough to work off a beignet ...

Congrats to Bella on two days of big-girl panty success!!! :cheer2:

OK, gotta go work on September plans now -- DH just said we can add a day to our trip! More park time! More ADRs! Yea!!!! :yay:

The video of the girls swimming was too cute! Did Bella ever get the vest on? That was precious. :thumbsup2

Do the workers dance at the POP food court every day? That was funny.

Can't wait to see your pictures of Fantasmic!

Maggie - I care about the giraffes! Next time we go to VA I'll have to take the girls to Norfolk to the zoo! Cool pictures!

I love that video of Brooklyn and Bella!! Bella trying to get that lifejacket on her head is so hilarious! Good golly those girls are cute! I am looking forward to trying out that food court too! Especially the tie-dyed cheesecake! Yummo!

Aw, look at those girlies having fun! They both look so little at the table in front of the tv. Your Pop food sure looks yummy.

If we do go in October, our dates would be Oct 20-Oct 23. :)

TGIF MeMom & Jill! Hope you both have a great weekend!

I was glad that our schedules worked out to see you even if it was just for a minute. Brooklynn was very proud of her floating ability. I am glad that I got to see her float.

I too took pictures of my view sitting around the pool. I wanted to be able to remember the feeling I had while sitting there watching Conor swim.

Yay for Bella's big girl panties.

That zoo in Norfolk looks really cool! It really does resemble AK, especially the prayer flags! It looks like you guys had a great day!

Oh and I was very interested in your new-found giraffe knowledge, I never knew there were so many different types! How cool that you were able to notice the difference! :goodvibes

I'm still here. It's been a heck of a week, though. I got laid off last Friday so lots of changes coming for us. Although, I do love that Abby can come at 2:00 and Ellie can be home with me. Love being with my girls. I am going to do my best to enjoy this time with them. It is the first, and could be only time I will be a stay at home mom. It's always been a dream of mine so we will see how long we can do it. I will enjoy it much more next week. This week was filled with filing for unemployment, being sick with the flu, and finalizing everything at my old job. Ellie's birthday party is tomorrow.

I'm caught up and love all the updates. Happy Belated Birthday, Bella! The party looked like so much fun.

I do I do. I will have to look closely and see. Something new to look for. :goodvibes

Special trip to AKL to look and of course stop for some zebra domes.

Cute video of the girls in the pool. Did that life vest fit?

Thanks for the pics of our favourite pool.

I'm going with no on the life vest. :upsidedow

Glad you enjoyed the pool pictures, fellow Pop friend. :thumbsup2

Thanks! I hope soo too! I think it would be awesome to pack away your clothes in a closet....drive (though that part will be hard on me because I have always flown to FL and this will most likely be a 2 day drive from NW ohio) and then arrive at WDW and you are already unpacked. Plus we can bring our own food, drinks etc easily! We can even bring our dog if we want too but I am thinking we are better off leaving him at home! We probably still wouldn't have a lot of time for him on vacation so its probably better to leave him with family or board him if we have too!

I hope this post is legible since Caleb keeps leaning over me and pointing to all the smilies! LOL!

Freedom to move around, face each other, let the kids have TV, etc. are all good reasons to think camper travel would be wonderful.

Let Caleb send us some smileys. The girls love to do it!

That video of Bella trying to put on the life vest was too funny, the thing looked bigger than she was

The CMs dancing was cute. My boys love to go eat at Joe's Crab Shack because the wait staff dances, so I know they'd get a kick out of those CMs doing the same!

I'm sure she though she could just take right off like Brooklynn if she had that on. ;)

My mom says that too! When Caleb acts up for us...she says he is always good for her and that its our imagination! No he just knows he can push our buttons! LOL! He is normally pretty good...he is just getting to be a WILD little boy! LOL!

Our grandchildren are, no doubt, perfect angels. Their parents are sometimes not so perfect. They are unfair and purposely make life miserable for our adorable grandchildren. ;)

You really do get so much food on the dining plan...one of the reasons I'm excited to go back!!!
Can you believe I've never seen the cast members dancing at Pop?! What time of day does that usually go on? Or do they just do it spontaneously?

I'm pretty sure there is a schedule around breakfast and dinner times, but I'm not sure about lunch.

I was on a hunt for really small panties when DD was little. The regular ones were much too big.

Can't wait to hear about Fantasmic.

I'm loading videos right now. :)

Yummmm love Pop food court food!

I can't wait to work at WDW one day. Chris and I want to work there part time after we retire when we're older. I would love to work at Pop and dance and bring joy to the guests!!

My retirement job can be at Animal Kingdom in the education area. I would say I'd meet you over at Pop when we all get off work some evenings, but when you're retired, I'm pretty sure I'll be long departed.

I cracked up watching Bella trying to put on the life vest Brooklynn did a good job swimming Cute video of the Pop staff dancing, I've never seen them do that before.

Brooklynn really likes those vests. She hasn't had swimming lessons yet, so that's a good way for her to get around safely.

That food sure looks yummy! There is a great variety at Pop, isn't there. One thing I don't love about Saratoga is that your limited to pretty much sandwiches and flatbreads at Artists Point. They're good, but sometimes you want something more substantial. I'm hoping that there are more choices at POR for when we go in May.

Love the swimming pics! Wish I could be swimming right now!

There are plenty of choices at Pop. It is a very good food court. ::yes:: All the chicken dinners I have had have been good.

Next time we are down at the same time, I would happily volunteer my services of some fun swim time and maybe show Brooklyn a thing or two to get her started. :fish:

Lifejackets are a good thing.

An educational job in AK would totally be on my list of retirement jobs as well. Don't say that you'll be long departed, you talk about yourself as if you're a dinosaur!! :rotfl:

Oh my gosh, it looked like Bella was going to get lost in that vest!

I love it when the CM's at Pop start doing the Hustle! We caught that a couple of times on the last trip.

I miss Pop so much! I adore the food court -- actually, we all do. Kailyn is kind of picky but she loves the food court, too, b/c she can actually find things that she likes. One of our favorite quick "snacks" to grab was a side of breadsticks and marinara sauce. I am sooooo ready to be back there!

Yep - an order of breadsticks is cheap and filling. ;)

Three more months for us, but I'm thinking of offering to give up the summer trip for the October trip for financial reasons.

Brooklynn is doing very well swimming. And Bella is just adorable with that swim vest.

That would be just wonderful to have a job where you could take a break & entertain the guests by doing the Hustle. Maybe I'll break into a dance at work tomorrow..

The girls were having much fun in the pool.

Brooklyn is a little fish

Bella with that lifejacket. I thought for a second she was going to get her head through the armhole and jump in.

Here are some pictures from the new exhibit at our local zoo (Virginia Zoological Park in Norfolk, VA). I am sure you'll see why it reminded me of Animal Kingdom.

The last one is not from this exhibit, but it seemed Animal Kingdom like, too:

As we were watching these, I said to my husband, "I think they look darker than the ones at Animal Kingdom. The ones at AK are reticulated giraffes. I wonder if these are a different kind?" Well, it turns out they were! Ours are Masai giraffes. I haven't read up on what makes them different, but I thought it was kind of neat that I could tell the difference. Plus, I didn't even realize there were different kinds of giraffes!

Thanks for letting me share! I hope you enjoyed the pictures.

I enjoyed all of those pictures. Thanks very much for sharing. We are hoping to go to Louisville in a few weeks, so that got me really excited for that trip. :goodvibes

I just thought of something else. I am pretty sure I remember reading in our local paper that one of the giraffes from our zoo got transferred to Animal Kingdom several months ago. I wonder if we can spot him when we go? Or, I wonder if we had a reticulated giraffe, and sent him to AK? After I posted the last post, I went and looked at the Wikipedia entry on giraffes and it says there are 6 kinds. The Masai is the darkest in color. Who knew?

I think the Masai males are the darkest, from something I have read. I love reading about animals. Very cool that one of your giraffes went to AK.

We'll have to hang out at AK sometime. I could get into researching all this. :thumbsup2

Beignets - aaaaah! Warm, sweet, powdery goodness.

:dance3: for adding a day!

Can't wait to see your pictures of Fantasmic!

No vest for Bella. She would have slipped through the arm hole.

They do dance every day, as far as I know.

Fantasmic is my absolute favorite

Coming up in a few minutes. :)

Maggie - I care about the giraffes! Next time we go to VA I'll have to take the girls to Norfolk to the zoo! Cool pictures!

We should just have zoo DIS meets all over the country. :thumbsup2

I hope you will like the food court. There are burgers and pizzas and pastas and Chinese - lots of variety.

If we do go in October, our dates would be Oct 20-Oct 23.

TGIF MeMom & Jill! Hope you both have a great weekend!

You'll be there for Drew's birthday.
That's when our fall break is. If we decide to change to my break for $$ reasons, we'll see you there.

I was glad that our schedules worked out to see you even if it was just for a minute. Brooklynn was very proud of her floating ability. I am glad that I got to see her float.

She was having a blast. I like to remember my views, too, long after they are past. :)

I don't believe I have seen prayer flags in other zoos. Very Animal Kingdom-ish. :thumbsup2

Enjoy your time with those sweet girls. I would go back to being a SAHM in a minute, if I could.

Sorry you guys have been sick.

I do I do. I will have to look closely and see. Something new to look for.

Special trip to AKL to look and of course stop for some zebra domes.

Any excuse to visit AKL is a good one. Such a great resort! :cool1:

Hopefully, she can get in some lessons this summer, but we'll take you up on Poolrat lessons.

An educational job in AK would totally be on my list of retirement jobs as well. Don't say that you'll be long departed, you talk about yourself as if you're a dinosaur!! :rotfl:

Maybe not quite a dinosaur, but getting there.

I'm trying to finish loading video of Fantasmic. The finale has failed twice. if it doesn't 'catch' this time, I'll just show a few clips without the finale and do it later.

Kay and I, the old ladies of the bunch, headed out for some night life.
We're wild and crazy like that.

From Pop,

And some videos.

Good triumphs over evils, and Mickey wins again.

At some point, Kay discovered that she had lost her phone, so we stopped by Guest Relations to try to find it.

I snapped this while she was describing the phone.

The CM came right out with it. She thinks she laid it down to look at clothes. Luckily, she got it right back.

Bus time check on the way home.

Wild and crazy night life didn't last too terribly late for us. :)

Not tonight in the present, either. I'm off to bed. I have a 6 a.m. drive to Huntsville in the morning. Good night.

You crazy gals went straight back to POP? You should have taken a boat ride to relax here

Boardwalkarea10110.jpg

Of course it may have been harder to get back to POP but the area is so relaxing and beautiful at night.

MeMom, I truly love your pictures, because some of them just bring me right back there and make me want to be there so badly -- for some reason the picture of the years did it for me. I always love walking back to our room at Pop at night :goodvibes It is definitely our Disney home!

Villains in Vogue!!! That whole store is one of my favorite stores in Disney. Whenever we go to DHS I always have to poke around in there, especially because I love all the Nightmare Before Christmas stuff.

Yep - an order of breadsticks is cheap and filling. ;)

Three more months for us, but I'm thinking of offering to give up the summer trip for the October trip for financial reasons.

Oh, that stinks! I hope it doesn't come down to that because I know how you have been looking forward to and counting down to that summer trip!
