Geeks on a boat! Disney Wonder Sept 3-7, adventures in alcohol....

I really loved your trip report. :thumbsup2 I only read it about 8 million times, I know, I counted. ;)

We will be cruising in about a month and reading your TR only made me more anxious for our trip to start. We too are 30-somethings with no kids but 2 dogs that we miss terribly when we visit Mickey. We'll be spending 3 days in the World Oct 19-21 then doing the DVC member cruise and a 3-day back-2-back. Maybe we'll see you in the park at MNSSHP or F&WF.

You're a HOOT! You guys sound a lot like us. We enjoy drinking, bowling, and all things Disney...(OK I enjoy drinking more than she does). When we have kids their Disney destiny is already decided.

Good luck on the new fam!

Hi Erica!

What a joy to read your report! I truly have not laughed so hard in ages! :lmao: I'm still in for the $100.00-when you get enough takers, e-mail me! Honest! Even if it's a couple years down the road and your new little prince pirate: or princess princess: arrives, call me! You are our kind of couple and we would love to head out on another "Geeks" adventure with you. Plus, I have teenagers who could watch your little pumpkin while you show us the way to Moccachino's and Mini Martini's! Thank you for sharing your adventure and please thank your hubby and friends too for allowing our giggles and their expense! :rotfl:

Here's to you and Lionel and your new adventure. pixiedust: Congrats and thanks again! :tinker:

Thanks again to everyone for keeping the thread alive :goodvibes
We are planning a 7-day sometime in mid-2008, will know more when dates are released. I think we could fill the whole boat with DISers! :teeth:

Hi Erica,

Just read your TR and I was sincerely howling at the "NAUGHTY MUD BATH OF LOVE"; and your Jet Ski trip!!:lmao:

We booked and just paid for our 3 night (Not nearly long enough, but I am settling) cruise that sails Dec 7. I just reserved the Rasul, and I am so glad I read this to know what to expect!

Thanks for the great TR.

Good luck with your future plans!

thank you, thank you, thank you Erica for that fabulous, detailed, smile-bringing tr!!!!
Please enlighten me on what exactly a "ginger chew" is, and where do you get them?

Glad you enjoyed it :goodvibes you'll love the rasul! For all of the uncomfortable giggles, you really really feel wonderful afterwards. Have fun! And I say a three-day is better than a no-day.

Ginger chews are kinds of like a really sticky ginger-flavored Starburst. We were introduced to them by our hairdresser (no joke) who shoved an entire bag at Lionel one day when he had an upset stomach and demanded he eat one. They are spicy yet soothing. I highly reccomend them, not just for hangovers! :) I got mine at World Market but you can also find them in Asian markets and assorted health food stores.

Thanks for the details - I will first try my local World Market this week. Do you recommend one flavor over another, or is it better to go with the 3.5 oz. size?
You all can sail w/DH & me ANYTIME!!! Next up: 09/15-07 Magic :thumbsup2

What a wonderful idea... Maybe you can plan a Erica fan fest cruise so that we can be part of your next trip report! :yay: :yay: :yay:

You know, the funny thing is on our cruise ALL of the DISers ended up booking Palo for around the same time at dinner AND brunch, so all of the waiters kept saying "everyone seems to know each other here!" :rotfl:

Potential negatives of an all DISers cruise:

"secret" overlook area on deck 7 PACKED at Sunset
waiting in line to get up the back stairway to Beach Blanket Buffet
so many door signs, you STILL can't find which room is yours
room service RUNS OUT of Mickey bars

Potential positives:

all bathrooms are well-lit and smelling fresh
never have to hunt for duct tape, just ask next door
ditto for bungee cords
well, duh, you KNOW everybody! sail away would be a blast!

I wait, I thought of another negative.....you can't use the excuse "I'm never going to see these people again" when you are stumbling to the bathroom after the martini flight, because THEY ALL KNOW YOU.

:teeth:

Well it took me a while but I finally got around to reading your story - what a hoot! I'm not sure but I think you and your husband may the vacation dopplegangers of me and mine (that's the word of the week...use it three times and see what happens!). :teeth:

And may I just say...no one yet has disputed my claim that the mochaccino, is in fact, the nectar of the gods. :lmao:

Thanks so much for sharing this with all of us and congrats on the baby geek! :goodvibes

Thanks for the kind words. Your trip report was actually the one that inspired me, so you get a double thanks for that :teeth:

My husband surprised me last weekend with a Starbucks mocha frappaccino in the hopes that it would be almost just as good. It didn't even come close, but the thought was there.... :goodvibes

That line got me a few funny looks from co-workers and the boss. Picture it....IPod on (playing Cruise music of course), unknowingly singing aloud, choking on my apple, and tears of laughter running down my face after reading your TR!! You are a scream!! :lmao:

Thanks for the laughs Erica!

You are the person I hope to meet and party with on our next cruise! :woohoo:
Thanks so much for the trip report!
Because I am still trying to get my DH so seem half as excited as I get before any big trip but especially a Disney one, I wanted him to read your report too. He will remember and relate to much of it from our first cruise. But getting him to sit still in front of the computer for that long....doubt it.
Hope you don't mind, but I cut and pasted all of your text onto a word document, printed it out, and am going to actually read it to him... Maybe you knew this, but it came to 47 pages!!! I even had to change the ink in the printer part way throught (yeah, it was almost out...)---AND now we are out of paper. It will be way worth it to get DH to laugh and begin to look forward to our trip!
BTW-- I used the ginger chews when nausous during my prenancies! Good tip!

47 pages??? Good Lord! :rotfl:
I hope it was worth it.

Wow, it really is over :sad1:

Now what? :confused3 Oh bother, what will I do in the evenings? PLEASE WRITE A BOOK!! I will buy 10 copies, I promise!

Sincerely wishing you a wonderful future filled with the joys of parenting. My best friend and her husband made a "souvenir" during our April Disney cruise - she is due in January :goodvibes

:wave2:

LOVED the report! First caught it to get info about the eco tour, then was hooked by your style. I think you'll do well in the parenting category. You seem to have that no-nonsense/good-sense-of-humor balance that is needed for both generations. I am currently trying to plan my delayed 50th b'day/25th anniversary trip in August 2008 and I'm hoping I'll get to see you sneaking up the backstairs or buying a mochaccino on the ship!

Yes, the martini flight was great - I just wished you could substitute the gin martini for something else. Something about gin makes my gag reflex go, no matter how they dress it up. :crazy2:

I am working on parts 5 and 6 - including the section I completely forgot to add to part 4. Ack! I might be up all night.... :surfweb:

Lisa, if it works for me then you can come along too! :teeth:

I just got back from the Magic on a 7 day cruise with just my husband. Your trip report was very helpful. On the Magic they did not know what a Martini Flight was. The only thing I could find was a Martini tasting for 15.00 but that was all. Also your report of the Exotic Rasul was the reason my husband decided to try it. Wonderful experience. But NO FREE stuff! I was highly dissappointed. I was wondering if things were different because we were on the Magic and you were on the Wonder. I would tell anyone that does not have kids to still do the Disney Cruise. The rainforest room the Exotic Rasul the quiet cove cafe, all of it. Very Romantic. You can tell I am having withdrawls. I have to admit when we were in the parking lot coming home I looked back and saw the Magic and just burst out crying. I have never loved a vacation more. And for the truth our bill for beverages was over 300.00. And we brought stuff with us. That is another story for another day. Thanks for a great report.
Lisa :woohoo:
