GCH room questions

Hey everyone,
I am looking at booking my trip in Oct to Disneyland in a next couple of days, but I had just a few questions maybe you could help with as I have never been before.

We are staying at the Grand Californian resort view. Will we be able to see the fireworks from our room?

Our kids will be 4 and 18 months so we will be in the room more then most.

We will need a crib as well as an extra bed. Would it be best to do two queen beds and a crib, or 1 king with the sleeper sofa and a crib? Which one would offer the most room?

No fireworks view with a resort view room at the GCH.

A resort view from GCH is a view of California Adventure park, which doesn't have a fireworks show.

I've heard that a few room at the GCH which overlook DTD have views of the fireworks at DL, but I'm not sure how great the view is, and it could also be noisy with all the activity going on in DTD.

Still, the GCH is a wonderful place to stay!

We stay @ the GCH..in the rooms they have pak n plays that are in the closet..we bring extra blankets for these..we are getting a bunk bed for DD4 this trip and Queen for us...we have used the pak n play for her and it was fine..last year she slept between the beds (we asked for xtra blanlets) so she wouldnt fall off..since they did not have guard rails and she was to big for pak n play..it workedout great..she loved it! that room had 2 queens in it..they provide a sheet and blanket for pak n play..but we bring our own as well..HTH

Actually we could see fireworks from our theme park view room at the GCH. Our view was right above Grizzly River Rapids. All we had to do was look over to the left and there was all the fireworks (was 4th of July too). Those were awesome rooms!

Can't help with the other questions - but I definitely recommend the pack and play offered in room. Our 1st stay we asked for a crib - took one look and knew that there was no way we were letting DD sleep in it!!

I agree, the pack and play in the room is perfect. I am weird because I bring my own pack and play sheet, but other than that, it's much better than the crib and my kids fit fine in it till atleast 2!

We had plenty of room with 2 queens and the PNP, but I had two other kids so needed the extra bed. If I were you, I would do the king setup for your needs!


The view of fireworks will really depend on location of your room. There are some Theme park views that have it and some that don't!! I would request a GRR view if you can and that would give you the best shot at it!

Have fun! We are staying there in March and it's fabulous!!

Yeah, now that I think about it, I guess you could see some of the fireworks from there. Plus, overlooking Grizzly River would be awesome too!

I'd just get the bunkbed room. The 4-year-old can sleep on the bottom bunk and the 18-month-old can either use the pack-n-play or the trundle since it is so low.

They do not guarantee the bunkbed rooms - it is simply a request. There are only 35 in the standard room section (and that section has the most of them). If connecting rooms are reserved for another family they will not split off the bunkbed room (which reduces your chances even more). Plus, they will give priority for a bunkbed room to a family of 5, before smaller families.

I know all this, because we were a family of 4 with a bunkbed request who couldn't get one. However, the hotel was full while we stayed there and they would have moved us mid-trip into one (I was not game to change rooms).

Oh yeah, I spent hours on my balcony. So much fun watching people on GRR! Very pretty view. Just wish you could have seen EP from there, then it would have been perfect!

Thank you so much everyone! I think I will request a king size bed overlooking GRR! That way someone that really needs it can have the bunkbeds. Not to mention that my son will try to be Buzz Lightyear off the top bunk!
