GCH - requesting "new rooms" and ticket prices

Just curious, I have booked eight nights at GCH directly through Disney for late April at what I think is a very high price (way more then what we paid last August). When I made the reservations a few days ago I requested bunk bed rooms which they told me they can't guarentee. I also requested a theme park view in the "new wing". They said they can't guarentee even a theme park view, but you absolutely can't not request the new wing rooms as they are all villas. I had read on this board that the new wing was villas and regular rooms as well and some people had stayed in the new wing with great park views. Did I just get the wrong person on the phone? Should I call back and confirm what I was told or can anyone advise me.

Also the cast member said they only now sell 6 day park hoppers and as I need 7 day ones...I'll have to purchase one day hoppers for close to $350 more for the extra day (two adults/1 child). Is that correct? We used to pay about $50 (total) for the incremental increase on a 7 day hopper to a 8 day one last year.

They do have Theme Park View rooms in the new wing. Check this thread for a map: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2396588 They would be x240-x260 even number rooms. Are you paying for a theme park view or are you just requesting it? Unless you are paying for a view, at a significant price increase, you will most likely be looking at a courtyard or disneyland drive (valet parkers).

If you want help with a specific room, try this. Think of something that you will be buying in the park, like embroidered ears hats, and order them through Vacation Planning. Then ask Vacation planning to have them delivered to the room before you arrive. Since Vacation Planning will be working with the hotel to assign your room prior to your arrival, you should convey your room requests to them...

I will have to go back and read that thread because I was under the impression that all the rooms in the new wing were villas. So that is news to me! I agree with crazy duck though, unless you are paying for a park view you prob won't get one and even if you are paying for one, they will not be able to guarantee where you room is. Your best bet is to call back a few days before arrival as they will not be blocking out your rooms anytime soon. Good luck! :)

There are definately rooms in the new wing, they are NOT all villas. We stayed in a theme park view room in the new wing for two weeks, so they are definately there :rotfl: You can see our view in the thread Crazyduck posted

Ugh, this is exactly why I'm thinking we may not be doing the GCH after all. Not that we want a new room, but it just doesn't sound like they are very accommodating to requests.

I just tried to call them now, but I was disconnected. We decided we want to stay there in Sept, but I refuse to pay that much if they're going to give us a sleeping bag for the 5th person to sleep in, rather than a bed. I would even be willing to pay extra for a pull out or daybed.
