GC vs PP Concierge

Opinions please, we currently have a ressie for PP concierge for 169 and are trying to decide if it's worth it to pay the extra 30 a night to stay at GC instead. We would be losing out on all the amenities of the concierge but the GC looks so nice. What would you do?

I was in the same situation...except we had PP concierge @ 189/nt since it was the theme park view room, the extra $10 was no stretch for me to be closer. DD is only 3 and prefers to be carried or piggy backed than ride her stroller so we switched but only managed to get 4 of our 5 nights at GCH so we'll be doing PPH concierge the first night and GCH the rest of the 4. Proximity was key for me. I couldn't see ourselves going back to PPH to enjoy the concierge snacks enough to make it "worth" it. Never been on property so I can't make an educated suggestion other than weigh what's more important to you, snacks and drinks (we do also have a rental car which means we do go "grocery shopping" for water and snacks anyways) or proximity.

Just a side note: I read on another place that they changed the AP4 rates dates, eliminated Oct and parts of Sept and Nov. So if you were planning to change your dates for your Halloween visit you may not be able to. I was planning to call next week to see if we could change that one night from PPH to GCH so we dont have to check out and check in again but based on the info provided I am guessing I wont be able to now and plan on just leaving it the way it is.

That's a tough decision. If you've never stayed at GCH before, I say do it. We stayed at PPH concierge in Feb and also had ressies for GCH(stayed here on 2previous trips). We canceled GCH and opted for PPH concierge since we weren't sure if we'd ever stay concierge in the future and we already knew what a stay at GCH was like. Don't get me wrong, we love GCH. It's my hotel of choice. There's lots of things for kids to do: storytelling by the hearth, scavenger hunt, slides at the pool, etc.. and the proximity to the parks can't be beat. But we figured we'd get more out of PPH concierge(even though it is a farther walk) since we alwys head back to the hotel for an afternoon swim/rest.

For our trip in Oct, we had ressies for DLH pool view concierge and standard/city view GCH. We opted to try DLH concierge since they were the same price. I figure we'd get more out of our dollar staying concierge. We spent the least on food on the trip we stayed concierge than any other previous trip.

If the extra $30 a night won't break the bank, I'd vote to stay at GCH. If it's money better saved, then PPH concierge is an excellent choice.

I have done GCH non concierge and PPH concierge. I would def go with PPH Concierge. Ask for a poolside cabana room (unless theme park view is super important to you). It opens up onto the pool and slide area and has a little patio outside your slider. The walk is a pain, but still not bad unless you stay at the park too late and can't take the monorail back. That is not fun at all with cranky tired children!

If you do the GCH, do not touch the fridge as it is set on sensor. We took items out to keep our stuff cold and whoa nellie! we were charged for everything moved (which they graciously credited). You can request a seperate mini fridge to be brought to your room if one is available. Although there are no stores within walking distance, you could pack drinks to keep cold or use it for leftovers, it would still be worth it.

That's the same decision we were facing.... but we went with PP. We have a DS (5) and DD (2) and my DS loves the PP and the waterslide. We have stayed at all the hotels. DH and I prefer DLH but I think it is for nostalgic reasons and GCH is the nicest. With that said, we love to stay concierge with two little ones. You can get juice, milk, fruit, uncrustables, veggies for kids to snack on. It breaks up the churros/mickey ice cream bar/frozen lemonade frenzy that our vacation usually is. :yay: The concierge at PP is always awesome with the kids, making a fuss over them, getting balloons and autographed photos, etc. Side Note- The last few vacations we have bought disney books, (aladdin, snow white, etc) and slipped them to the concierge and she "had all the charcters" sign the inside cover and gave them to the kids. :thumbsup2

They replaced the mini bars with regular fridges last year, so you don't have to worry about that.

I'd definitely pick the GCH for an extra $30 a night!!!

Thanks for all the info. We still have the ressie at PP but are trying to find rooms at GC and if we do I guess we will be forced to make a decision. Or maybe we'll just split the visit at both hotels.

Is it just me or doesn't it seem like more rooms are opening up with the AP4 discount? I've been trying to get a ressie for weeks now and they just today had our days available. For all those out there still trying, keep it up, you never know. :dance3:

Heatherplus3, thanks for the great tip on the books, we'll be sure to give it a try if we end up staying at PP.

I have not yet stayed at PP (will stay PP concierge in Nov) but I have stayed in a theme park view room at GC without concierge. I would definitely save the extra $30 and keep the PP concierge. GC is beautiful, definitely way nicer looking than the PP, but I wasn't nearly as impressed with it as I thought I would be. Maybe it's because I've been to so many WDW deluxe resorts (and as soon as I walked in the GC it immediately reminded me of the Wilderness Lodge at WDW, designed by the same architect), maybe it's because the rooms are pretty small for the price, but I just wasn't all that thrilled. The location was nice, nicer than the DLH where I stayed the year before, but overall, for the price, I wouldn't stay there again.

GC definatly. Do you have AP4 rates is that why your price is so low?

Yes, that is the AP4 rate. Still trying for GC at least one night.
