GC offers - how often does this happen?

Hi,

I booked CBR last march and had our stay just last week. When I booked CBR last year, there were $75 GC promotion. Our trip was great and even more so with GC.

Since we only started to learn about Disney more extensively 1.5 years ago, we are wondering whether GC offers are common.

All I know is that CBR had GC offer from $25 --> $75 --> none last year when they first announced the construction.

Has anyone seen similar deals before?? If yes, what was it like?

Thanks!

They are uncommon. CBR was a special case because they were closing so many of the amenities with zero notice. The Gift Card offer wasn't even an offer until they got flooded with calls from very upset (understandably) guests once they found out.

You would think they would have learned their lesson from the WL and Poly pool closings debacle a couple years ago, but they didn't. When guests started showing up to these resorts and found that the Main Feature pools were closed, they had a mess on their hands. So for Poly they gave guests free water park passes and for WL they gave guests $50 per night credits. These offers were only given for a couple months then they ended as they figured at some point guests were booking these resorts even though the website stated they were under construction.

So now they have started sending guests emails with pool closing or other construction warnings which they figure gets them out of any compensation obligations.

Thank you! That's what I thought and told my DH.

Yep. And then they had to put the kibosh on it because people were purposely booking CBR for the gift card.

I was one who had been booked there (the visit ended up not happening at all...but I'm going to the World in a couple of weeks now!!) and then it was announced and even with the gift card offer I ended up changing resorts. In my case it was because of the dining options - or lack thereof. Being gluten-free I was not comfortable with the food tent set-up and did not want to have to provide my own breakfast or eat every breakfast in parks or elsewhere.
