I just got the Gaylord Palms resort for 1 night through priceline. I've visited the website, but would love to hear from those who have stayed there. How are their restaurants? Their rooms? How far to Disney?? Thanks in advance for any information

The Gaylord is very possibly the best non-Disney hotel in the area (OK, you might argue for the Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cypress or Portofino Bay :teeth: ), with some wonderful facilities, excellent service and lovely rooms. The whole place is quite breathtaking, and the two feature restaurants - Old Hickory and Sunset Sam's - are superb, but then there is plenty of other choice, too. A wonderful family pool has plenty for kids, while there is a quieter 'grown-ups' pool as well. Add in its convenience for Disney (maybe 5 mins to Animal Kingdom) and I4/192, it is hard to beat in overall terms, IMHO.

Thanks for the quick reply. Dh and I have wanted to stay there for some time now. With our priceline bid, that was not bad, and we are so excited.

Gaylord Palms is a lovely resort, one of my favorites in the area. The rooms are large and bright, and the atrium area is like a destination in itself. As Simon said, the restaurants are very good and the service is friendly and efficient.

Enjoy your stay! You've chosen a wonderful resort. :)

We did the tour when they opened and had lunch there in the mediterranean type restuarant.

The resort is spectacular...you have to see it to believe it. It is built..like inside out. All the balconies, face the inside, which is made to look like outside. Very cool

The food we had was very good. Same prices as everywhere else in orlando.

We stayed at GP last year and really liked it. We also won it on Priceline and we usually stay onsite, but it was such a beautiful hotel. We asked for an atrium view, which is an upgrade and they didn't hesitate to honor our request. The staff was extremely pleasant. Food was very expensive, as were the shops that were in the hotel. My little boy loved the children's pool - which was a huge octopus with water that flowed out into the pool. The rooms were very luxurious with every amennity. The bus service was fine - we did have to wait at MGM in the center of a hot parking lot for 15 minutes before the bus arrived, but it was hot everywhere last June. One other observation - the rooms were noisy in the evening. It kept us awake one night until 2 a.m. You may want to get an outside view room if you love to sleep. We would stay here again - when are you planning to be there? I hadn't seen GP come up on biddingfortravel lately. :D :D
