Hi All!

October is quickly approaching so I just thought I would see if anyone on the Dis will be at Disneyland for Gay Days? My partner and I are rooming with friends at the Grand Californian and I am soooo excited! hehe We stayed at the Disneyland Hotel last year and had fun too.

Well if you are there we shouldn't be hard to miss, look for the roving band of six redshirted chubs! :-)

Happy Disney days all! :tinker:

We are not going, in fact we have never been to DL. However, it's something that I look forward to doing one day. I did see today that Miley Cyrus is going to be crashing into the party a bit.

Miley Cyrus Crashes Gay Days at Disneyland
by John Frost

When Miley Cyrus, aka Hannah Montana on the Disney Channel show of the same name, celebrates her “Sweet 16″ with a gala special ticketed event at Disneyland on October 5th, she’ll be crashing an event that has had the first weekend in October to itself for a decade. Last year Gay Days attracted 30,000 interested visitors to the Disneyland Resort in an ‘unofficial’ gathering that never-the-less typically sees lots of support from Disneyland and surrounding businesses. This year, is likely to attract even more.

Still, if I was planning to attend Disneyland that weekend, I wouldn’t get worked up about it. It actually works out better for those planning to attend Gay Days that weekend. Their Disneyland Park visit is scheduled for Saturday, and California Adventure on Sunday. With Disneyland’s early opening on Sunday and extended hours for California Adventure, they’ll actually get more time in park to explore and have fun.

Plus, you never know. You may bump into Miley.

ANAHEIM, Calif. (August 21, 2008) – When the world’s most popular teenager turns “Sweet 16,” it’s cause to celebrate. And when that teen is Miley Cyrus – star of Disney’s “Hannah Montana” – there’s no better place to celebrate than at a Disney Park.

To honor the occasion and Miley’s philanthropic passion, Disneyland Resort in California has created “Miley’s Sweet 16 – Share The Celebration,” an unforgettable event for Miley and her fans that also will serve to recognize Youth Service America and help drive awareness of the need for youth volunteerism.

The Hollywood-style bash is planned for Sunday, Oct. 5, from 6 to 11 p.m., with ticket sales limited to 5,000 fans.

Tickets, priced at $250, go on sale at 9 a.m. PDT, Saturday, Aug. 30, at www.disneyparks.com/miley.

For Miley, the birthday bash is a once-in-a-lifetime event and she plans to make new Disney theme park memories during the evening. “I only turn 16 once, so it’s going to be an awesome party with my favorite rides, hanging out with friends, fireworks and more,” she said. “I’ll even get to sing a couple songs.”

The evening will celebrate Miley’s career as a Hollywood Records solo musical artist and as the “secret pop star” she portrays on the wildly popular Disney Channel series, “Hannah Montana.”

Miley’s Sweet 16 at Disneyland will feature a medley of party elements, large and small, that will allow guests to join in the celebration of Miley’s magical milestone. Special Party Zones will highlight the music and fun of Miley and Hannah Montana with themed activities and entertainment. Some of Miley’s favorite attractions will be open in each Party Zone, and the party will end with a bang as fireworks fill the Disneyland sky.

Sharing the Celebration with Youth Service America

In addition to all the birthday fun, Miley’s Sweet 16 will shine a spotlight on Youth Service America, an organization that seeks to improve communities by increasing the number and diversity of young people, ages 5 to 25, serving as volunteers. (For more information, visit www.YSA.org.)

In keeping with Miley’s passion for youth volunteerism, Disney Parks will make a significant contribution to Youth Service America.

With the organization’s involvement in “Miley’s Sweet 16 – Share The Celebration,” Miley said she hopes that other young Americans will be encouraged to volunteer in their own hometowns.

“The best part of the party is we’re going to recognize some really cool kids from Youth Service America who are giving back to their community,” she said. “That’s so awesome because I think it’s really important for kids like us to volunteer.”

We haven't decided yet. If we go, we'll be at the Hungry Bear at noon with the rest of the bears. :)

The Miley Cyrus party won't be much of an issue. Gay Days is at Disneyland on Saturday and DCA on Sunday. However, it will make it much more crowded at DCA on Sunday night.

Don't get me started on the Miley Cyrus party! They are however keeping DCA open til 11pm that night to try and accomodate the crowd issues.

WittyreaderLI - Well I have only been to Disneyland Gay Days once but I had a blast. It was a very crowded day by noon time but tons of red shirts! :-) People were very friendly in my opinion.

Oh I can't wait!!!

I have a couple friends who go every year to the one at WDW, and they love it. It's kind of an "unofficial" event where there are apparently lots of gay/lesibian singles, couples and families. I'd personally bring someone to go with, but that's just my preference. I think if you decide to wear the traditional red shirt when you go, it makes it easier for people to take note of who you are and can make it easier for people to socialize with you if you choose to do that sort of thing.

I am heading down for Gay Days with a few friends. Although I have not been there in the past for this event, friends have expressed what a great time it is. We will probably not do the big parties or dances and just do the parks and spend time with friends.

Sounds like I will not be the only chub in a red shirt running with a group of friends.

I wish I were going, but I'm scheduled to be in San Francisco for the Love Parade that weekend, and that is an amazing event. A little part of me is hoping that trip gets cancelled so I can go to gay days!

Cool! Yeah, we tend to skip the party scene as i don't like to waste park or resort pool time. hehe :-)
